e93 - windows go back down during roof closing procedure

I will have the dealer check this when I take it in for an oil change in a few months, but when closing my roof and the side windows go up, the passenger side window about 25% of the time will reverse itself when it is about 80% closed and go back down. I just noticed the driver side did it recently also.

I just stop and press the button all windows up button and they go up, but it is odd.

anyone?

maybe something is binding or tight and it thinks something is in the way? It never happens when i am putting them up/down myself not involving the roof.

Mines does the same thing. It's a known defect.

It's the pinch sensor- go to the dealer and get it calibrated.

Is this something that will cause an overnight stay at the dealer?

Hard to say, most likely not though I would think. Also I think there is some undocumented trick to "recalibrating" your windows. Can anyone chime in?

mine has had the sensor reprogramed 3x (no its not an overnight thing, very quick)
but it hasnt done anything.
i haev a diff dealer looking into it but of course it never reproduces the issue when its there.
apparently sometimes the window regulators go bad, or the wiring in the door jam get a short.
it hasnt been too much of an issue besides the one time i realized my window went back down after i parked the car the second day i had it in the middle of NYC

The pinch mechanism is too sensitive in these things. Mine has gotten worse with time.

If it doesn't do it in front of the tech, just do it again. Eventually it will do it.

My experience has been quite the opposite. Dealer "recalibrated" the windows for me some months back as I had the same issue. Never a problem since.
Who knows what they did- hell they could have slapped their junk up against the windows for all I know. All I do know is that it is fine now, and has been for some time.

Glad I know the word, "recalibrated" so I can tell the dealer. I haven't taken mine for this yet so it's been doing this since factory delivery.... I've been living with it but now I know what word to tell them - recalibrate. Thanks!
