Question Extended Warranty (3rd Party or BMW)

My dealership quoted me $2700 for 6/100,000 extended warranty with $50 deductible for each visit.

First, he was offering me through a 3rd party company for $2700, after I asked him what is the difference between this and the one that BMW offered, he quoted me $3200 for the BMW ones. After a little negotiation, he came down to offering me $2700 for either of them.

He told me the only difference between the two is BMW coverage used only BMW OEM parts but the disadvantages is I can only send it to BMW authorized dealership for repair. For the 3rd party company, they might used aftermarket parts but I can send it to any shops for repair when there is no authorized dealership available in the area.

I am more towards getting the BMW coverage.

For the rest of you, which one do you get and how much did you pay? What is your deductible?

Also, I was planning in getting the Extended Maintenance if the price is right, but after checking this site and after hearing the price he quoted me - $2100, i think he is just ripping me off with that price. I have asked him several times if that is the best price he can do, he told me thats the lowest he could go.

the most ridiculous thing is, I have checked with Warranty Direct and another BMW dealership, they were both quoting me for more than $5000.

How much do you plan on moding your car?
What options does your car have that can break?
Are those options covered with the warrenty? Most electronics are not covered.
I say put the money in a savings account and drive your heart out.
