Camber Plates needed for ST V1 Coilovers?

Hey all, I have a set of ST coilovers that have been laying around since summer. I am anxious to get them put on, I called one of the local BMW racing shops to see how much they would charge to put them on. Price was steep but he said I had to have camber plates or else I would get bad wear on the tires. True or not? This shop also wanted 1100-1400 for walnut blasting

You don't need them unless you lower your car a lot. The front camber isn't really adjustable so if you drop your car enough, it will be out of spec. That can lead to more wear, but honestly if your toe is in spec the wear isn't bad. I'm slightly out of spec on my KW's for camber, but toe is in spec and I don't have abnormal wear yet.

Go elsewhere. They don't sound like enthusiasts or n54 specialists

You definitely don't need camber plates. Just get an alignment and try to get the toe as close to zero as possible. You won't really be able to adjust the camber unless you drill out the pin on the strut top which only leaves a minuscule amount of adjustment. The shop you are going to sounds very expensive, I'd get some other quotes and ask in the regional section where people recommend to go.
