Just hit 154k on my 06 330xi MT-6 and ordering supplies of OEM maintnence for an oil change, deal from ECS tuning providing their drain plug with magnetic to catch most of the metal pertical that just devastating me to know. Also give it a go with 300ml of Liqui Moly oil additive 'Ceratec'. See the result for a couple of oil changes till I remove the valves cover.

187K on a 2006 325i I got in Aug. 2005.
Just replaced the passenger side low beam xenon. The original on the driver side is still OK but too dim compared to this new one, going to replace that as soon as I get the part. Still running on the original water pump. And the last 10k have been with an oil pan gasket leak and a broken bolt according to the shop that does the oil change for me! |

Since there's not much going on this morning I'd figure I'd throw an update in...
So I parked the E90 last night with 291,520 miles on the clock. My weekly mileage has dropped a bit since I picked up a '08 Z4 Coupe to share the DD duties with the E90. The plan for picking up the Z4 was to allow some down time for the E90. The most recent stuff done on the E90 has been new tires and I swapped back to the original sport package staggered set up - non run-flats of course. I lost No.5 coil in August, so a new rack of coils and plugs went in. August also brought a new left rear wheel speed sensor and the rear ride height sensor (was messing up my headlight leveling in the rain and snow). I threw in a new crankshaft damper too chasing down my lumpy idle - didn't help. Hoping to get to 300K then go in for some major surgery. The pan gasket needs to be cleaned up. The rear crank seal needs addressing. Trusting the starter keeps me up at night. And I'm sure the oil separator system should be taken to the Smithsonian for display. Wondering on how long Valvetronic (control) motors last. And those pesky VANOS solenoid filters sitting in the head... And it's been 142,000 miles since my last water pump... And... engine mounts.. Oh, and the blower motor needs replacement (this'll be no 2). And the suspension has 110K on it now... Good I work for a living - LOL Lately been been toying with the idea of just pulling the engine at 300K and buying an engine stand. I need to get the clutch out at some point.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

When we surpassed 250,000 miles I final replaced my original water pump and thermostat even though it was still functioning correctly. My original water pump and thermostat housings were both machined aluminum now the OEM BMW replacement thermostat is plastic. I'm guessing it won't last 250k miles again! Anyway did a full maintenance all fluids, plugs, trans, diff, belt, filters, etc.... I guess we'll keep this car for a bit longer as I think it's finally broke in.

So I had to replace an angel-eye bulb today. Took the E90 out for a quick warm up afterwards. It's amazing how a car at 291,527 miles can pull multiple redlines at full throttle shifts and not throw a code or just plain blow up. I just hammered it on Wednesday coming home down the racetrack that leads to my house, parked it smoking hot and burning brakes. The E90 is one hell of a car...
