jb4 finally installed!

so finally i decided to tackle this install myself..i took me 3 hours since i was being careful and was taking my time..everything went fine until i finished and forgot to google on how to route the usb into the glove compartment..i just left it in the ecu box and will try to route it over the weekend..the Can wire was a pain in the ass because i didnt have a heat gun handle and used my fingernails to remove the glue from the rubber cap to pull out the wires..now for my review..

i have the performance package, so i had a little more power than the average n55..
i took the car for a little spin, and i could actually hear the bms intake working, which i installed yesterday..Power wise, on map 1 theres maybe a slight difference over the ppk..low end is pretty much the same..i hope it gets better..i dont plan to run map 2 until bms comes out with a dp fix since this is a hobby and plan to waste money on installing and removing catless dps for inspections..i have a mortgage and a baby on the way so i have to use my money wisely..

i will let u know how the car runs on the highway tomorrow..

I have a 2011 335xi, and am trying to decided between the JB4 and PPK stage 2.

Would hate the have a warranty issue since the car only has 5k miles on it.

Let us know how you like it

I'm in the same boat. I'm eager to hear the results as well.

You will get more power with JB4, but I for one just want to keep my warranty intact, what with the potential issues that may come with ownership of a 335. I also want to sell it privately someday, so probably best to keep the car within operating spec.

Yes. I to have a 335i. That's why I am doing the BMW PPK1. So I have no warranty issues.

With the JB4 its super easy to remove and with the built in code clearing there should be not warranty issues. Once you install it once it should only take 10-15min to restore back to stock or re-install.

Okay so after testing out the tune, i must say its worth the 500 bucks..mid range and top end makes this car a beast..its just what the n55 needed..40-80mph is much faster than the ppk...low end torque is pretty much the same..the option to switch maps on the fly makes it amazing, so when i'm in the car with my wife and running errands the car is on map0, and when i'm alone driving free spirited i switch over to map one..i really regret selling both my icarbon and ar dp..all in all, i guess im lucky to have both tunes..

You can drive on map1 with DPs. You will have a little less performance overall. Not sure exactly what the question is though?

What kind of gas mileage do you get with JB4?

They say PPK1 is rated for the same as stock. I hear JB4 is less, but I wonder how much less.

I was at 18.9with ppk.. But since I installed my bms intake an jb4 I tend to give t more throttle so now I'm down to 17.9.. More city than highway when I drive..

So about 1 mile difference? that's not bad. I thought it would be like 3-5 miles

Mileage difference is negligible. All comes down to if you push it harder 24/7. I drive fairly aggressively, acceleration wise, and average 21mpg combined. I just got back from vacation and ran 80-85mph for 475 miles and got 27mpg each way. I'm satisfied, especially when I consider I had an 02 RSX in college which had a whole 165 hp and only got 28 or 29 on the same trip with it.

Same here.. I played around with some 103 octane and my average went to 15.5

Do you go to a dealership in south florida or central? I am about to get one next week and am skeptical about my next dealership visit.
