Garage List
2011 BMW 135i  [0.00]
CLS550 or A7

It's funny how trophy wife sedans are getting smaller. Most of the hot moms in my neighborhood used to drive 7's and S-classes, but now they're driving A7's and CLS's.

She test drove a CLS this morning, loved it. On to the Porsche dealer now to look at the Panamera. They have a 2010 4S with great options, but they're asking too much for it IMO. The 2011 V6 Panamera they have is nuts, they are asking as much as a similarly equipped new one.

I would never purchase a V6 Porsche, especially not one that weighs 4100 lbs and has 300 HP...

I guess cls is just perfect for this or even the a7. I've seen the a7 more and more lately and it's grown a lot to my taste.

How about a G class or even a range rover?

Right, that somehow changes my point...

I don't think power is an issue here and a C63 doesn't exactly improve in the looks/commonality department of a standard C class minus maybe wheels.

Although I like the Panamera. The CLS value for money is way better when compared to the Panamera.

I am willing to bet she is going to pick the CLS over the Panamera.

Test drove the CLS550 and V6 Panamera today.
Great engine in the CLS, lots of nice standard features.
Preferred the driving feel of the Panamera, but way underpowered compared to the CLS. Felt more like driving a smaller car. Much more expensive than a similarly equipped CLS, even with the V6.
The Panamera isn't the best value, but what Porsche is?
CPO Panamera S may be the way to go, but it may take traveling somewhere to buy one with the right options at a good price.

for less than 80k? where? My mother was going to get a Flying Spur, but the maintenance and price (it was ~$200k) wasn't worth it to her, so she got a 750li instead (she couldn't justify the ~$40k increase from the 750li to the 760li either) and now just shops way more because of the money she saved haha

I agree, but may need to wait awhile for the prices to come down, most are asking way too much for them used. There is one up in Dallas that's listed in the mid-70's (not CPO), but it's such an outlier price wise that I wonder what's wrong with it.
The local dealer here is asking more for a 2011 V6 Pana than you could buy one for new, his comment was that they are hard to come by, they have nothing in stock except for Turbos and they don't have allocations to build one until the spring.
Still upside down by about 3k on the the C350, so may hold off for now.

Anyone have any experience with the Infiniti M? I've seen some great reviews, good looking car, may have to look at one this weekend.
Wifey liked the Panamera, but doesn't think it's worth the money.

She is smart, I said that early in the thread. The new CLS is the best value in the segment. And also one of the best looking cars sold today.

Update: Went to see the Infiniti M, wife didn't like the looks of it so much we didn't even bother test driving it.
Test drove Lexus IS350 and IS-F. Specifically went there because she likes the service better than any other dealership by far. Really liked the IS-F, well-made, fast, great sound, handles well.
Saw an '09 M3 Coupe at an independent dealer, liked it best of anything she' driven yet. Was really looking for a 4-door, but she loved the look of the coupe in Melbourne Red with the CF roof. I thought the IS-F had more punch, especially at lower to mid-RPM's, but the M handles much better, the transmission is better and the car is way more configurable with EDC and all the various settings.
The M3 we looked at had too many miles (65k) and smelled like it was owned by a smoker, so will pass on that.
Now considering CPO vs ordering a new one from one of the guys on this forum, unless I can get the local dealer to give me a fair deal (which is unlikely). There are no new ones available locally.

Yeah, if you want something very ugly, very tacky and very expensive. That interior must have been designed by the producers of Pimp My Ride (the exterior is not much better).
