Progressive Springs v Progressive Bumpstops!

So, we have learnt that the factory bumpstops have the effect of turning a normal linear spring into what is effectively a progressive one.

The question is, what happens when you pair up progressive springs like Eibach or H&R with progressive bumpstops?

Complete mismatch?

True. This is why BMW's have decent ride comfort and handle well.
No idea about H&R and Eibach. They work I guess. Lot's of people use them. No idea what those spring manufacturers recommend for bumpstops. If you're looking to improve handling w/o degrading ride comfort, you're best bet is BMW PS springs and bumpstops w/Koni's imho. If your primary goal is to just drop the car, those two you mentioned drop the car lower than BMW PS.

Eibach's own Bumpstops

Heres a real challenge.

Attached links to Eibach's website showing their own stops included in the Pro System Plus Kit and a calculator to specify your own.

Now, for Pro-kit users, the correct Eibach bumper for the progressive spring is the answer we have all been looking for

How do we track dowm the part Nrs for these bumpstops?

Can any Vendors help out please?

Cheers

Factory OEM springs have always been progressive springs. Does having factory bump stops on factory OEM springs make the car handle like sh*t?

And the only reason bumpstops make linear springs "progressive" is because the bumpstops compress and expand at different rate than the linear springs, therefore it ADDS more spring rate/tension once you start riding into the bumpstops. There's no magical "transformation" that makes the property of the springs any different than it used to be.

Regardless, if you're using the bumpstops regularly as part of your suspension system, you've got bigger problems to worry about.

Understand what you are saying but to add to that, the car makers are telling us that bumpstops are an integral part of the suspension system and we do actually spend more time than we realise riding on them.

What I'm trying to find out is the exact stop that Eibach use in their engineered suspension system as that is obviously ideal for the Pro- Kits springs.

Needs the dimensions input to generate a part number.

Is anyone who has the Dinan or M3/Z4 setup able to measure the height of the shorter bumpstops?

I just got mine from Tischer tonight. M3 front measures 2.09" and Z4 rear measures 2.57".

For measurements on other E9X bumpstops see this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641140

I used calipers for a more exact measurement but if you want to round my measurements to the nearest 1/8th for comparison, then it would be 2 1/8" front and 2 5/8" rear.
