smoke in exhaust

So finally i started noticing smoke in my exhaust. Mostly the left side (driver). It seems to be mostly when idling or coming to a stop. It's like a bit of oil get into the exhaust, gets burnt off and then i'm good for a little while. Then back through the same thing.

Couple things to note. I never noticed this before until 2 recent changes happened.
1- got rid of my CP-E catted dp's and put in the Macht Schnell 3" catless pipes
2- took out my McKinney Racing catchcan and put in the BSH catchcan.

car still ran low 12's on street tires even a few weeks ago but to be safe, i'm cutting the power down to stock levels.

As the car is out of warranty, i'm paying for the turbos. The question is which one to get.
Rob Beck, Helix, ASR etc..

I know a few guys have the Rob Beck units and are happy. The only issue here is the wait time. As i drive my car everyday, i need her functioning. I understand the wait times are 2-3months on the RB Turbo's.

The question is, should i chance it, keep driving and get the RB ones or go with a different option?

OR do i just buy new OEM snails and replace the exisiting ones asap.

insights?

it might not be your turbos going bad. I get white smoke on decel and from what I've heard it could just be blow by getting burned off from the engine pulling a vacuum. I don't have a catch can though.

Are you getting smoke in your engine bay too while at idle? I had this issue....went with RB's but I been waiting for them since March.

I'm going to switch back to the McKinney catchcan and see if it's still having an issue. I was wondering on this as well.

I am going through the same issue and it is the intake tube that goes from intake filter to turbo. It came out the turbo. No pressure loss bc it is on the intake turbo side.

No smoke upfront at all. Engine bay is clean. No smoke etc anywhere.

Interesting! so the tube came off and you started smoking? I assume you have to lift the car to see this?

Correct. The abs plastic tube simply slips into the turbo and is in place by a seal. No clamp. Terrible design. It is above the transmission behind the engine.

I've noticed mine slips off my rear turbo also. Its a pain in the ass to get to. I think it slips off easier if the small metal tab on the firewall side of the tube is bent which is the case for me. I haven't been able to fix it so mine just barely sits in the right spot. I'm not sure if this causes any smoke in the exhaust, when I had that on my drivers side it was my front turbo bearing going bad.

I hope you figure out your issue.

If your out of warranty I think getting stock ones again is not a great decision especially if you are modding and tuning your car. I realize it's a dd but you should just order it and wait. Drive around with the car normal without beating on it and it should hold up. Just make sure u check oil levels more fre

I do agree with you. I'm fully bolted on carwise and turbos would be the next step. Rob did get a hold of me yesterday and promised an answer today so hopefully it's good news! If it's a matter of 6-8 weeks, I can survive. If it starts to look like 12-16 weeks, that may be a tough thing!
