Activating 6NR (ConnectedDrive) on 2011 E92 LCI

I can't seem to find a good answer to this question. Most seem to deal with CCC -> CIC retrofits, or pre-LCI retrofits. I have done a lot of but can't find the full answer. Here's what I have:

1. 2011 E92 LCI, CIC w/ Navigation
2. USB in armrest, aux in armrest, Snap-In Adapter

I do not see ConnectedDrive as an option on my I-Drive display.

What additional step do I need in order to activate BMW ConnectedDrive? In my case, is it as simple as coding 6NR and getting some sort of activation code, or do I need an updated Combox as well?

code 6NR to FA recode cic + combox to new FA and see if bmw services changes to connected drive,

if it stays on bmw services you will need FSC code for your vin to activate bmw apps.

I would say due to year of car software will be latest and you will need FSC code.

^^ Yup. They got wise to the coders being able to activate a paid for option (6NR) so they implemented an FSC lock on the option to prevent folks from doing just as he suggests.

My dcan cable arrives tomorrow, and I'm eager to start learning to code.

My car is a 2011, with a build date of 09/20/11. I have the professional navigation (S609A), as well as the Combox S6VCA.
I have the USB ports in the glovebox, and armrest. My CIC menu has ConnectedDrive listed, and I can go in there and do all sorts of stuff (schedule service, perform searches...ect).

I do not have the BMW apps though, and am wondering if mine is one of the systems that's able to just code the 6NR option?

Thanks!

As I posted earlier, you cannot do this. BMW implemented the FSC code lock on the 6NR option so even if you coded it in without the code it will not work.

It sounds like your car may be a pre Combox model (Prior to 09/2010 build). If that is the case, then you need to do a Combox retrofit and add those features. My 2011 was manufactured on 06/2010 which does not have a Combox. Check out some of the forum vendors that do CIC retrofits.

Are you sure?
Supposedly it's only needed when ConnectedDrive Menu don't appear, right?
Thank you

Exactly what I was getting at, but no one seemed to understand, so I just dropped it...

Mine is a 2011 build with ConnectedDrive menu. Literally has everything but the apps enabled.

Hi there , don't know if it actually works with iPhone 5 , if some one could confirm this or if you have a iPhone 4 to try it with.

Another thing to try , start the app on your phone before connecting it to the car

Bmw apps and connected drive wouldn't show on your idrive screen if you needed a fsc code.

So here's what my screen shows. Based on this, can anyone confirm what I need to do in order to activate the Apps?

It's an easy question to answer really.

1st: Try and see if you already have it. Install an app (like Pandora, Spotify, etc...) on your iPhone. Load the app and then connect it with your OEM Apple USB cable to the USB port in the center console. If the screen on your iPhone changes to show it is connected to BMW and you see the app appear in your "Radio" section you have BMW Apps.

2nd: If that fails you do not have it. Try adding $6NR to the VO of your CIC and Combox and repeat step 1.

3rd: If that fails, you need an FSC code to activate.

Hmmm, are the apps only for iPhone?

I've currently got a galaxy s5 (not an iPhone fan), that connects via Bluetooth to my car. It also shows up as a device under the "cd" menu, and selecting it allows me to stream music directly from the phones memory. I'd just like it to do the same but with pandora through the phone.

Also I do keep an iPod in the center console, and when connected to the USB port inside of the console, the iPod does display the BMW logo and I can fully control it/view artwork through the CIC

Maybe I'm confusing the BMW Apps with something else? Are you referring to the apps like Pandora, Facebook..ect, or the Actual BMW App that shows stuff about your car?

I'm just looking to stream some pandora from my phone!

BMW Apps is a paid-for option in the car that allows certain applications installed on Apple products (iPhone) to be controlled via iDrive: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/bmw...roduction.html

It only works on i-devices.

If you just want to stream music from Pandora I would imagine you could do that over A2DP or USB but I do not know how well the car plays with Android as I do not have that type of phone. That has nothing to do with the 6NR BMW Apps option, however.

I have the same menu "ConnectedDrive" as adventr but inside i also have BMW Apps - Menu that donīt appears in the adventr image.
The problem is that don't work. I cannot connect Iphone 5S via apple OEM cable and BMW App.

I have added $6NR to VO..
