Half engine light

So I left work, got in the car, started her up and after about 15 seconds (hadn't even moved from my parking spot) the half engine light came on (amber). Prior to the light coming on the car felt a bit shakey almost like the RPMs dropped for a few seconds.

Turned the car off/on and no issues...never had any long starts, car runs just fine just not sure what/how/why the half engine light came on while I was parked...JB3 has been on the car for 8 months w/ no issues so not sure what it could be...I need to get a BT tool

Hopefully its not my HPFP...

Yup, that's your HPFP. The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago while I was on the freeway. I brought her in for service the next day. After some testing, the service mechanic was able to duplicate the error and replaced the HPFP.

I mean, this N54 engine's been around for a while now........and you still hear guys blowing HPFPs or losign their hearing (not to mention their sleep........) because of wastegates' rattle, how about boost leaks (another popular issue even among those dudes with bone stock N54........)?
And it goes on and on and on

i guess its an acronym coined on the forum (because other manufacturer call their pumps HPFP -- High Pressure Fuel Pump)

BMW calls their pums an HDP (Hi-pressure Delivery Pump)

but either way - you can gather they are both (terms) one in the same

Go get it scanned via BT cable. Sounds like a variation of HPFP.
