BumperPlugs

Hey guys, time to go no front plate..Murray drilled a hole in the bumper before I even saw the car, is the best way to fix that using those Bumper Plugs? They want $32 for two tiny plugs, seems unreasonable, any other ideas?

My job requires me to have a good driving record so the less tickets I have, the better.

No front plate tickets will not affect your driving record, will it?

I heard as long as you have the front plate showing even in the front window, you are fine - is this not true?

I never roll with the front plate on and I have only ever been hassled about it once. I dont believe it is a primary offense so that means cops cant pull you over for that alone. Although, I have had plenty of tickets for no front plate when parking downtown so, dont do that.

And no, a plate ticket doesnt count against your driving record because it is not a moving violation.

Forgot to mention, my mom just got a warning. So no ticket. But it is the law and they can enforce it if they wish. From what I understand

I am an ex-cop....

Yes cops can pull u over for it, it is similar to a brake light out or a vehicle with a cracked windshield.

There are no "points" assessed to this offense as it is an "equipment violation."

Yes u can get a ticket for this, so don't act cocky, typically cops will pull a car with no front plates looking for something more (drunk driver, drugs, etc)

Most often than not if you are polite you will get x number of days to fix it with no fine assessed.

Lastly, cars that don't have a place for a front plate don't jave to have them....if only we could have them stop drilling holes in our cars "legally" we would be safe.

So does that mean that if our front bumper doesnt have a plate holder or holes for a plate holder then we dont have to have a front plate? You never see Porsche's or Exotics with front plates even though it is possible to put one on.

Not all laws are the same across states. What I was told from the state of Colorado when I was issued my plates is if you are issued 2 plates, you much use 2 plates. So you run the risk of being ticketed if you only run 1 plate. No matter what some ex-police officer from Wisconsin tells you

It is the law in CO that 2 license plates are displayed properly on your car.
