See this is what I was thinking...

It would be kinda stupid if BMW changed the way the FMIC is positioned/the way it looked. Why not just use the same intercooler from the N54 and change the plumbing pre-intercooler? That's why I asked in my first post if they could be interchangable, as well as a bov, because post-intercooler plumbing looks the same between the N54 and N55, at least from what I have seen...

Now there will only be one DP, maybe that means there will be more room and a catted 3" DP could be made for the xDrive models. And of course the catbacks would probably have a Y-pipe instead of an H or X pipe setup, because of the single turbo.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out...

If I were a vendor on here I would research what vendors and tuners in the MINI community have done with the R56 Cooper S. They've had since 2007 to come up with solutions for their twin-scroll and while I know there's a big difference between an inline six and transverse mounted four banger, a few concepts from the twin-scroll turbo may carry over. My JCW Cooper S is a blast to drive on the track and at Tire Rack in AutoX events. It's an R53 though... with a roots-type blower.

Do we know if this is going to have a dual or single exhaust?

Is your car a model year 2011?

Have you received a production number from your CA? Have you logged into bmwusa.com to track delivery? What do you see if you click on "view standard features"? Do you see "Valvetronic" anywhere?

I just ordered a 2010 car, my CA assures me that it'll be an N54.

I get that it has or will be tuned?

The BMW 535i is not being forgotten and dubbed R35 featuring the new N55 single-turbo twin-scroller engine, will receive an extra boost to produce 410 horsepower, up from its 306 horsepower in standard form. The maximum torque is increased to a remarkable 530Nm (383.5 lb-ft) and the 0 to 62 mph is now achieved in 5.3 seconds, seven tenths faster than the the regular model.

Fair chance the N55 will use the same intercooler and intercooler location as the N54. No real reason for BMW to retool that part. Piping will be different obviously.

A single 3" catted/catless downpipe will be easy enough to make. Catback exhaust will be very easy to make. Hell, we might even get a legitimate intake.

The answer to the N55 question lies with valvetronic.

The real question is how much power is going to be extracted from it via tuning. More aggressive ecu hardware and software was most def put in the N55 to stop tuning at a limit. The ECU is mounted on the engine! by the intake manifold.

And how much can be tuned that the bmw anti-tuning kicks in to stop the fun.
Like when you trip tuner codes when you push the tune too aggressive, you lose tq and such until you re-start the car or until you trip it again.

BT cable is going to be a 100% must have with no excuses with N55.
It's been done already since 2010/9 & DME flash tune will be limited the same way as the N54 @ 240kPa. Will post 1st N55 dyno DME tuned when completed testing .
