First I do not believe they control any US air traffic control towers, everyone one who works are a air traffic controller works for the US government and FTC. The US would never out source this. At most they may man and operate private airports.

There are lots of companies like this company who are large holding company, this is not unusual, Level 3 Communications is another one in the US they are into all kinds of things. Hallibuton does similar things as well.

They make $6.4B USD and they have 70K employees which translate into $91K per employee, which is really poor efficiency per worker or that most of their employees make far less that most likely around $25K per year. I would beat most make even less than that.

If you watched the video, you can see that their reach spans well across the globe. I am willing to bet lots of money that they have accounts all over the place and that it would be very hard to follow the money trail to get a true idea of what they really make.

I guess they don't mean the Air traffic controllers. Major TRACON and Airport controllers are government employees and contract under the FAA. But what about the equipments, radar, ILS, etc? The infrastructures for air traffic control?

Well it does not sound like this company owns any companies that actually make things, they seem to manage stuff. But all the equipment used in the air traffic control are made by US companies for obvious reason. There use to a Long Island company who made the radar terminals and HB Singer (yes the sewing machine company) also made the equipment.

Maybe as an consultant?

and as you say, some smaller airports, not sure precisely which ones tho. Also the airspace in Iraq and Dubai international Airport.

While everyone is talking about the revenue profits and etc etc, I want to know WHY IN THE HELL IS NUCLEAR WEAPONS CONSTRUCTION/DECONSTRUCTION OUTSOURCED!

Big ass light bulb just went off in my head about national security. I'd think the UK Government would want to do that themselves?? Why outsource?

How about Bechtel? Who has heard of them? Anyone? Their revenue is 10 times that of Serco. $32 Billion in 2009.

How about Sinopec? $167 Billion.

There are tons of them.

pretty insane how much they do though!

Not sure if it's a good thing having 85% ex government employees to handle big government contract money streams lol. Pretty sure over here they would all just put it in their pockets

As has been mentioned...I don't see what the big deal is... so they have a hand in everything? They're not of any real size or substance... that income is small for that 'large'/widespread of a corporation... I don't see what the fear is here.

Also has been mentioned, there's lots of other companies that have a hand in everything. Serco might be the largest company you've never heard of, but that doesn't necessarily mean crap...

Not a lot of people heard of these companies because their client bases are not BMW or regular consumers. Their audience and contracts to other corporations and companies.

There are many like these, Flours, Bechtel, WorleyParsons, Jacobs, Technip, etc etc...they are decent size companies but not many people heard of unless you work within the industry.

Some of these got government contracts that works infrastructure in Iraq, military bases, and like Serco, involves in Nuclear Weapons. The Government can overwatch everything, but they just can't put their hands on everything unless you want to pay more tax. Sometimes its cheaper to let corporations run and get their hands dirty.

$3 billion in annual turn over is large but not huge. Lockheed Martin crushes that easily. Prob a big deal for a UK based company but not that big of a deal here in the US.

+1
But I think the keyword here was "biggest company we NEVER heard of..."

there's many bigger companies with larger profits, but its also very well known to public...
