You were bloody lucky then! Thought I was lucking getting 3 points and £60 for 97 on the motorway a few weeks ago. He knew I'd spotted him but he just got the read out, said it was his discretion but the speed is logged so no choice apparently and I'd passed everybody else so was a rather visible target. Didn't get any lecture on speeding whatsoever. Ended up having quite a chat in the back of the V70 lol. Turns out he used to ride motorbikes also.

As for the 'boing' ..............never use it, and no, I still won't use it.

Isn't Maryland speed limit a pokey 55 mph statewide?

I guess the sign at the border does say, "Unless otherwise posted" or some such legalese. It's been half a year since I drove in Maryland and I don't pay much attention to the speedlimit signs there anyway; nobody else does either, it seems -- cops included.

Cops drive at about 100mph everywhere even on the small roads. Then they pull over good drivers who are going 1mph over. Either way I dont speed.....unless im in West Virginia driving around the mountains.

Am I right in thinking that if you do speed, the punishment is a simple fine?

In the UK we have an evil points system, so one speeding conviction screws your insurance record for 5 years.

Better still 4 convictions in 3 years will result it in you taking the bus for a couple of months.

This is where I've discovered that paying for decent insurance also covers you in the event of speeding offences. Many brokers/companies will increase your premium following notification of a speeding offence, however, I now have two SP50's within a space of a 15 months and when I rang my insurance again this year to inform them, he said no increase on the premium. Some insurers take the view that in this current money making culture of targeting non-criminals then it is inevitable that people at some point, are going to be done for speeding.

Tim, I'm still insured through Porsche funningly enough who are brokers. Insurance is underwritten by Aviva. Whether this is policy of Aviva in general, I'm not sure. I believe if you google something relating to this, there is some info. on which insurance companies increase premiums or not.

You would think that the insurance industry would be all over the government to crack down on the criminals. After all, isn't it usually the insurance companies that pay out to replace the items the criminal scum steal? They need to end the "slap on the wrist" judgements and put the criminals on the rock piles: given a piece of granite the convict's height cubed with an unending supply of sledgehammers, they remain in prison beating on the rock eighteen hours a day until the volume of the original rock is able to pass through a 2mm sieve. Only then do they get released back into society. Get convicted again and it's a 1mm sieve with a 100% increase in dimensions on the rock. A third time and the rock must become like talcum powder. I doubt there'd be a fourth time.

Now back to the topic. Mine is still set to 103.
