If you run the valet mode hard, it will make the ECU more aggressive since you will only be running 7-9psi of boost. Then when you switch to the Performance map, it will be at full aggression. However, full aggression does not necessarily mean fully adapted. It may have to dial some zones up and down.

Thanks Shiv. I assume this means that ideally, you don't run hard in Valet Mode, and then give your car a few (5? 10?) miles to 're-adapt' in full-scoot-mode.

Report #2:
I unplugged the battery after lunch and when leaving work, plugged it back in. Waited for it to heat up and ran it hard. The car felt really good actually. A few new things have come about that are a bit interesting. 1) One thing that happened which has NEVER happened before is I was running through the end of 2nd gear and heard POW! The hoses to the BOV blew completely off HAHAH! After that I went home, fixed the hoses, tightened up the clamps real good and went for another ride. 2) When building boost it sounds similar to if you would put your hand over a wetvac. Up till now, I've never really noticed that. Does everyone hear this? Its very pronounced with the windows down. The sound sounds as if its over near the BOV area, but I cant say for certain. a) Either its supposed to sound like that, or b) I have a massive leak. Which makes no sense, because the peak boost level is being achieved and it still pops the BOV loudly. 3) It feels better winding out the gears to higher RPMS as many have mentioned. There is a lil dip around 6500ish though. Your thoughts on #2? |

Just got back from the initial test drive after V2 install, with the bypass plugs in place. Man does stock suck....
I unplugged the battery again and will leave it for an hour or so while I put the tray/covers/etc back together then go for another test drive and report back how it feels.

The results of adaptation is pretty noticeable with v2. Especially coming from v1.x. Especially in the 3000-5000rpm range where the factory ECU learns that it can be much more aggressive. This is because v1.x, like all single solenoid systems, had less precise boost control and was more prone to boost spiking in the midrange. Whereas v2, with direct drive dual solenoid control is much more controlled when it comes to midrange boost swings. This usually means that it's a good idea to give it a few days to adapt before taking it to the dyno. In fact, I've stopped dyno testing *right after* v2 installation. I've always found the results to be much better if the car has a few days of driving/adaptation time under its belt

So am I reading this right that if I drive in Valet for a couple days, the car wont really need adaptation time if I restart and go the full boost mode?

Oh ok thanks Shiv... I was just wondering. I dont even use the valet right now, but will change it with the next update. Thinking if I drive Valet for a week to get used to the stock again since the car is starting to feel slow . Just didnt want to drive carefully while V2 is in adaptation mode again.
