A quick search will reveal that you need to update the firmware on your CIC, as well as have the newer maps installed on the hard drive.
For you, it will be easier to find someone with an ICOM / MOST to help you update your CIC firmware. |

Hi opjose,
thanks for your reply, the car is an LCI 2010 I believe the car has never been updated. I understand why the maps don't get updated (because they can charge !!) but I don't understand why the software doesn't get updated at service. thanks in advance Paul1966

Hi,
thanks to all who have helped.... I found this web site: https://www.autoevolution.com/news/d...on-54817.html# I followed their instructions & links, I have now successfully updated my Idrive ;-) I still have know Idea what ICOM/MOST is or if indeed I have updated it/them ?! I have also found a maps update will cost about £36, which I will probably get as a crimbo prezzy, then I can find out if this will fix my original problem...LOL thanks again for all the help Paul1966

Guv, that website is for updating a combox, if you have a combox.
You need to update the software on the CiC, the controller and then load newer maps for it. BMW dealerships will not necessarily update your vehicle unless it relates to a specific problem and that they will be supported by BMW head office, if something goes wrong with the update |

Go look in the main UK thread for coders required. You can post in there for updating your CiC.
Look at the attached file for the latest CiC maps ( 2017-2 ). It is a single usb update version. |

Yes, the premium maps are for the CIC professional version.
You will need an ICOM A and ICOM B + a dedicated power supply unit. Then obviously the necessary software. This, altogether, will set you back in the region of £600 - £700. Considering that the last of the CIC's are over 5 years old now, I don't think BMW has released any major updates to them. Therefore, you would be better off paying someone a once off fee to update your CIC for you. |
