Most wood trim has a light clear coat on it so if you want to buff out scratches I'd recommend only using a very light polish like the Menzerna Micro Polish SF 4500 (PO85RD). It's a very gentle polish that should help remove ultra fine imperfections and remove any haze. This can also be used on your paint for the same basic function. If you want to use something a bit more aggressive the Menzerna Super Finish Polish SF 4000 (PO106FA Nano Polish) is my choice which is still regarded as a light polish. Hope this helps!

I tried Meguires Plastic-X on my Piano black trim. It sorta worked on the light scratches, but left the trim greasy, and its hard to take off.

Next I am going to try PO85RD and see how that does, I'm betting it will get the job done.

I did my trim with it out of the car (its easy to remove with a trim removal kit from Harbor Freight)

Plastx leaves a film of protection on the surface which is why it feels greasy or slick. I've used klasse aio to good results. Slick, but not to the point of oil coming off by touching it.

I know this thread started a while back, but I'll pitch in.

I had wood trim in my E39. Although I was never trying to repair significant damage from a specific incident, I always treated it like paint and it came out great. A little bit of fine compound or glaze applied by hand, followed by regular carnuba wax and it always came out looking great.

I'm not sure that wood trim is a place to try to "level out" any scratches, especially deep ones. You might want to try glazes instead to minimize appearance. Since it's interior, it isn't going to be washed and scrubbed regularly and the glaze should stay in place a long time.

Prima Hydro worked great on my trim, which had small surface imperfections and swirls. Best of all, it only took 10 minutes and I didn't have to remove the trim from the car to do it.
