Hard wax base, soft wax second coat?
Does anyone do this? Is there any benefit in getting a better shine and longer lasting protection?

its done all the time its not for much "added" protection you dont get twice the protection imo. the benefit is you get the long lasting protection from the hard wax and the depth and gloss from the soft wax. Dodo Sells a kit.

If you're looking for durabilitly and depth, you can use a sealant wax combo! You get the best of both worlds. Just make sure your sealant has cured and top with a quality wax!

This is the way to do it - instead of two waxes.

Yup. Sealant and wax will give you better durability than two coats of wax.

thanks for the responses. Would you use a hard wax or soft wax on top of sealant?

It won't really matter because most beauty waxes do not last long. Which hard or soft waxes are you considering? I assume you are looking at Dodo Juice.

I use a soft wax (Dodo Juice Purple Haze), but only because I keep up with it regularly and have a good layer of FMJ below for protection. There is such a fine line between soft and hard waxes - soft will give you a little more shine but less durability, and hard will give you a little more durability but less shine.
I think you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between hard and soft, looking at two cars side-by-side. The prep work is still more important, and the sealant is what is doing most of the protecting.

I currently use dodo juice blue velvet. How often should I use sealant?
