Just searched using my registration plate on Euro car parts and they show various different discs and pads for my car.

It is a 08 335i E92 with 19" wheels.

When I search using the registration plate no front sensor shows up. Searching by car model and year it does. I wonder if I might not need one either?

Hi mate

This is the set I got for my car and they perform quite well. Wouldn't recommend them for the track but I think my current issue on a B-Road blast is shite fluid. I'll be changing that when I get home again.

Recommended seller as the bits arrived sharpish and no hassle. Doesn't come with sensors but if they haven't been triggered then your good to keep using them. Also on my car I only have a sensor on the offside rear and none on the front but mine is an 06 (56).

I did have a look at Mtec brakes.

If you go direct to their own site the same deal costs £260 plus you get an extra 10% discount currently.

I'm confused how he is sourcing the parts, spending time to machine then selling for reasonable profit.

I'm not too sure I want drilled and grooved discs on on my car.

Obviously it is the SE I have with 230 wheels and I think the aggressive brake discs might look out of place behind softer lines. I had a drilled and grooved pads on my old car and found them a little too noisy too.

I didn't go down the Grooved and Drilled route either but for different reasons. I went for the Grooved only jobs and to be fair they're very quiet if not silent unless you really stamp on them or get them particularly hot. I don't know how he turns a profit but I'm guessing it's a small number and counts on volume of sales as opposed to max profit per product.

They look better with just the grooves.

On the main site he charges £25 extra to coat the discs to prevent rust and hold a better finish. I can get that done at the work though.

Is there any branding on the discs to see who made them?

So far I can see Mtec brakes for £234 plus £30 for sensors.

Mintex pads, discs and sensors for £250

Or Pagid all round for £300.

I'm drawn to Pagid as they are original parts and 31% off is a good offer.

Yeah your probably best with the pagid for keeping everything OEM and it's not that much more.

I need to get some Ferodo/EBC pads for when I get round to changing my fluid. Need to extract some more performance as I'll be fitting my JB4 soon

I've just gone ahead and ordered all the Pagid set up.

Discs, pads and sensors all round for a total of £300.13 with free delivery.

Who would have thought OE quality parts would be so cheap?

Just have to decide if I will get my hands dirty or get a little favour done.

What would we be, 2 hours max for an experienced mechanic with ramps?

2 hours for a garage should cover front, back and a fluid change. I can do it in not much more than that on the driveway, including jacking up and putting everything away again.

As above, getting it done at a garage should take less than 2 hours. Doing it yourself for the first time will probably take a bit longer. My old mans got a 4 poster and I changed the lot on mine in 2 1/2 hours, and that was a first time for me on the BMW. It's a really easy job to DIY on these as opposed to some other marques I've worked on.

Brakes arrived today.

They look massive off the car and bloody heavy.

I know they are heavy as the nice chap from Yodel left the boxes at the bottom of the stairs and didn't either ask for a signature or notify me they had been left.

Sometimes living on the top floor is a major pain. Perving at the young birds over the road is a trade off though.

Are the discs handed? i.e. do the grooves go the same way (i.e. forwards) on both sides of the car like 'proper' brake kits do (AP etc)?

Arrrrrggggghhhhhhh.

When searching using my registration plate two different Pagid sets of front pads show up.
The more expensive £70 set or £40 set.

I went for the £70 and they don't fit.

Edit. Went to look for myself. The pads are the correct shape but don't have the retaining clip on the rear.

Trying to source something locally now.

Eurocar parts said the part is the same part listed as BMW.

It didn't have the retaining clip as the ones that came off or indeed the other replacements bought.

Now got the hassle of photocopying my receipt, order return forms and shipping them back.

Here is the difference. Without the clip it is going to rattle about in the caliper.

Not got a local one as yet. The one in Aberdeen is opening soon.

Went for a drive past and the building is nowhere near ready.

The next one is 100 miles away so little point spending a few hours and 200 miles of fuel to return brake pads.

I will photocopy my receipt, no idea why they need this as they know what I've ordered, print off photos and return request sheet.

Sometimes mail order can be a pain.
