Garage Door Closed on Hood :(

Unhappy camper here...So my condo garage door decided to close on my 335is hood today, as my car was already partially through the garage.

I've attached pictures of the damage...

1) Any rough idea of the cost to fix this? I can't see/feel any dents..i think the paint is scratched pretty badly though.

2) Any recommendations for authorized BMW bodywork repair centers in Toronto or GTA? Im a bit confused...i thought BMW has a repair center but they don't..they outsource the paint/body work to certain centers....

Thanks in advance

Ya BMW doesn't do any paint in house, they are all sent out. You can find very good body shops that could repair this for a fraction of what BMW is going to charge if you go through them...

Wouldn't the condo board pay for this? Afterall, this was the fault of the condo garage door! Should be video's to prove it too!

European Autobody if you want the best and don't care about price!

Honestly wipe it down with goo gone and i bet you it will go away. Looks superficial. Buff it out after if its barely there.

Budd's does there bodywork and paint in house, and Parkview as well.

Looks like your condo may be liable for the damage to your car. I suggest advising the condo corp and they may pay you to fix the damage. Otherwise I suggest getting a quote and suing the condo corp in small claims court for the damages.

Thanks all for your responses...I think I have a game plan..first get it repaired and save the receipt, and then go after my condo board...

question - unfortunatly i had to drive the car in the rain for about 1 hr...will this cause my hood to rust later on in the future??

I'm curious... those doors usually take about 5 seconds to close. Would you not see it closing and be able to stop?

I agree with this. Don't assume the condo board will voluntarily pay for it once its fixed. They may not agree with the cost and you may be left out of cash. Also, don't presume they will give you access to the security video. That is their property and they don't have to give it to you unless you get a court order.
Advise the condo corp of the mishap. Come to an agreement. Then get the car fixed. And keep it out of the rain. The condo corp does not have to fix any damage that occurs because of your negligence.
Hope this helps.

Its a complicated story (and no I did not tailgate in...the door just started to close down and I couldnt back out in time as other cars were behind me...better to hit the hood than my convertible roof)...anyway, condo has agreed to pay for the damage as they saw it on security camera

Anyway, I know European Auto is recommended, but its quite far and my work hours are erratic.

I was recommend Assured Automotive on Eastern Road - Im thinking of going there just because its near my house/work...any thoughts about this place?

Parkview sents out their repairs to Excellence Autobody and York Mills autobody I believe.

The owner of Excellence goes to Parkview twice a week to provide estimates. I was at Excellence in Vaughan couple weeks back and the estimator there used to work for Parkview.
