D1S lights?

One of my bulbs just recently burned out, and I'm looking for some new ones. Anyone recommend any brands? I was hoping to find a cheaper price brand than OEM, but they all have mixed reviews :

Osram CBI. There are counterfeits on Amazon, etc. order from a trusted vendor like Retrofit Source.

back when i did my own retrofits, I was actually on a budget...so i used to use morimotto bulbs. The bulbs never gave me an issue and were clear/cut.

Still...I'd definitely order from TRS.

another vote for Osram CBI.

I got morimoto bulbs and they started mismatching within several months and then several months after that, one of the bulbs started to flicker. Going through warranty, I was only able to get a refund for one bulb and would have to just buy a single replacement. They would not give me a refund one both bulbs to allow me to buy 2 new matched ones. Not wanting to chance mismatched bulbs, I went with CBI and have not had issues.

About how long did they last for? I'm leaning towards these because of the price

Yea I mean I might have been unlucky. I did get refunded for the bad bulb but I was disappointed they wouldn't refund me for the other bulb so I can order a new set. The problem is that they process the warranty claims themselves and rely on the distributor to process claims.

Philips White Vision Gen 2.

I have Osram CBB (the newer and brighter version of CBI) in another car and the Philips has noticeably more output.

We have genuine Philips or Osram if needed. I can't post links in the section of the forum but members can for me if they are so inclined.

I just had the same problem, my drivers side went out. How did you identify that it was the ballast and not the bulb? I haven't pulled anything out yet. However I have been looking at bulbs.

One way to do it by switching bulbs from one side to the other. It's pain to do, but you'll know forsure what he problem is. I went with an amazon ballast for $50 and it's been working for over a month now. I messed up though and bulb some aftermarket bulbs. Ended up buying 2 lights, but for some reason one side is brighter than the other. Not sure if it's the bulb or ballast that caused this, but I'm going to leave it be for a while.

I'd bet on it being the difference in ballasts causing the difference in output. There are tests on YouTube showing output differences in multiple 35 watt ballasts as well as some higher wattage ballasts.

So... I think my car is still on the original bulbs... Will I see a big improvement if I put new bulbs in ?

How old is the car and how many miles?

You should see an improvement, whether it's big or not is up for interpretation.

It can be up to 25% brighter.

While my 2011 with ~75,000 miles on the clock had color-shifted to a nice purple hue, the output was significantly lacking. While I went with one of the brightest bulbs available, even swapping out to new OEMs or decent quality aftermarket bulbs would have made a World of difference. I was shocked how much brighter my new bulbs are.

Sounds about right. HID/Xenon tend to drop off in output in about 7 Years with average use.
