Question Regarding Installing OEM M3 Fender on E91

Hey guys,

I'm currently working on an e91 m3 conversion, and had a quick question about installing OEM M3 front fenders onto an E91.

I purchased a set of E90 M3 fender, but i'm having a bit of trouble installing them. While they line up nicely, the connection at the bottom of the fender, where it meets the side skirts needs to somehow be modified.

I purchased the following parts, which I believed should have made this install easy, but I can figure out how the items below, attached to the body of the car, and fastens the fender.

Does anyone have a picture, or diagram showing how these parts attached to an E90 M3?

Parts purchased:
09 Bracket, side panel, entrance left 1 41317180343
09 Bracket, side panel, entrance, right 1 41317180344
16 Mounting bracket, sidewall, left 1 41008044985
16 Mounting bracket, sidewall, right 1 41008044986

Picture of parts:

Picture of how fender sits against car (picture is not my car);

I was able to find this picture online of a stripped E90 M3 Shell.

If looks as if only part # 41008044985 remains on the shell. Can anyone confirm if this is the only part required to mount a e90 m3 fender to a standard e90/e91?

I'm also doing the E90 M3 Front end conversion, did you install the fenders with these brackets?.

im also trying to do a front end conversion and wasn't sure about all the parts I would need. Do you have a parts list running? I already bought a bunch of front end parts.

The mounting brackets that I used for my E90 are, 41008044985 and 41008044986. They go at the bottom of the fender. That's the only ones needed to hold the fender.

Thanks for confirming. I managed to verify this on a wrecked m3. Did everything else bolt up for you in terms of the fender?

Thanks. are you talking about the brackets that bolt to the radiator support and the headlights? I know I will need them.

You didn't answer about mounting the fenders to the car. Did all the bolts line up for you to attach the fender to your car?

Each bracket are held by one bolt to the car(you need to drill to fit this bolt). The fender attach to it with 2 bolts. Its a slotted fit, to accommodated adjustement of the fender.

Please see my picture. The one arrow with the text is what I believe you are referring to. How about all the other mounting points with the different color arrows. Did those all line up for you?

Here is where i'm at right now(pics are worth a thousand words they say).

Here is the bolt that requires drilling to install.

The metal tab on the front beam needs a small extension plate to connect to the fender.

Also, the small tabs near the door dont exactly match the inserts on the fender, i currently work on a simple fix for it.

Thanks for the pics. This will help many people. I only see one part that won't line up? Is that it?

The middle tab is not there on a 335 and the lower one will need a bit of realignment

Got it. Thnx. So the upper one is the only one that is there and aligned? Did you try to buy the tabs and weld them on?

No I didn't. As of now, I'll most likely modify the stock ones.

You think if you managed to bolt the top and bottom bracket in that you don't need the center one that is missing?

Good to see you moving along. Its been so long that I don't remember all the details but there was something with the fender brackets. Nice job, can't wait to see you get it all wrapped up. There is also a plastic bracket that meets the corner of the fender, headlight and bumper. I'm gonna see if I can rummage through some old things. I switched computers and Photobucket sucks balls and killed my entire build thread.

Yes, definetely, you need that plastic bracket that holds the corner fender, headlight and bumper. I almost have all the M3 bits for the front end. Really , to make a good job you all need them.

Here is the diagram listing all the parts needed;

Thanks. I really appreciate this. I didn't know about #2 and #3 from your post. I have the side skirts. Looks like I might need just a couple more bits and to figure out how to get the lower bracket to work and I can begin. I still need the headlights though.

Regarding item #3 in this link
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_6258

I'm having trouble where the #3 bracket doesnt line up or connect to the headlight bracket like the 3 series did. I have about a 4" gap between the #3 bracket and the headlight bracket. Anyone have an idea of what piece I'm missing of should be using?
