That deflated feeling
It looks like our storesman will be getting a kicking on Monday on account of the M4 screw I've just seen sticking out of my front tyre.
It hasn't lost any pressure (yet) but typically it's in the edge treadblock of the tyre so there's not even an argument about the possibility of a repair. Time to hit the 'phone on Monday.

The shortest that we do use an M4x6 (and we don't use many), but we do go up to M4x35, so it's likely that it's either gone through or is only a gnats genitalia away from doing so.
The next machine I design will have nothing but welded studs and nuts!

That's only an inch and three-eighths long and ¼" in diameter. Geez, you're English (I think) man! Learn to convert those blasted foreign measurements back to a useful measuring system.

Hmmm, well it was only an M4x8 Caphead, but it does appear to have gone through. The washing-up liquid test shows very slight seepage when removed, but as yet no noticable drop in pressure as measured with a tyre pressure gauge, so at least it's not truly running flat.
Our stock/stores guy will be in the carpark with a broom tomorrow, he just doesn't know it yet.

Did you take out tyre insurance, Matt, or are you going to get the business to pay up ?

I didn't take tyre insurance so it'll be me that suffers. However, I can make some others suffer as a consequence.
It's ironic really, as my sister had a puncture just last week on the new 118d. Not to worry, the deal I did for the E91 morphed into a better one that would cover the cost of about five or six tyres anyway. All part of life's rich tapestry. Now get over to the UK5 meet calendar and sign up!
