DIY: ~$60 to $150 Rear View Camera without CCC/CIC, NO CODDING
Alright so I do have a CCC but I did not want to spent 300$ on a module to integrate a back-up camera into it. If you are on that same boat or do not have a CCC/CIC or aftermarket HU check this out. No codding required!
I used the following DIY to for the source of the camera and on how to install it: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1005301 Parts Needed: All Items are for reference, if you can find it cheaper go for it! Or if you don't want to wait a week or 2 from china/korea find it a little more pricey locally. For me it only took about a week and a half to arrive. OEM Style Rear View Camera: $47 from china http://www.ebay.com/itm/281330142436 4.3" Monitor: $15 from Amazon Prime http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CFLMNC/ Now the reason for the $150 is that I added a Mini-DVR along with a black box power safety to run the rear view camera along with my front dash camera as a black box 24/7. If you want to follow that as well here is what you need in addition: Mini-DVR: $35 from amazon Prime http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A0JMY8C/ 32GB Class 10 MICRO SDHC: $17 From amazon Prime http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00APCMMDG/ Uninterrupted Power Cable Module: $30 from S. Korea http://www.ebay.com/itm/261122259078 The mini-dvr [s]along with the uninterrupted power cable module[/s] was mounted on the passenger seat rack. I later mounted the uninterrupted power cable module to the side of the center console on the passenger side for easy access. I placed it there so I could control when I wanted it to record while parked. For example I have surveillance cameras all over my house so I don't need it recording while I am home. I tapped into the cigarette lighter for the ACC+ and Ground connections. For the constant power, I used the battery and routed an extra wire to the passenger seat at the same time as routing the camera video cable. Here are images of my completed setup: Top: BlackVue Power Magic Uninterrupted Power Cable Bottom: Mini-DVR UPDATED PIX: I was originally going to use a Panavise In-Dash Mount to mount the monitor, but I realized that my drinks condensation would most likely drip all over the monitor. So instead I just double side tapped it to the face plate. With the position of the monitor I can still access the DVD slots by just moving the monitor flat.
