Recommendations for Bluetooth A2DP adapter

Hi all, my first post so ignore if this is duplicated or covered already. I just bought a CPO 2009 335i M sports and pretty stoked about it.
Soon I realized that it's bluetooth only supports phone calls but no music playback.

I read somewhere that you can put a small a2dp bluetooth adapter in one of the USB ports and then play music directly.

Any recommendations on which one to buy? I want something small that I can slap in my glove box.

Thanks

I have had one for about 2 years. Love it. I found that my Droid Razr Maxx connects more consistently than my Droid X did. Sound it great though.

Thanks, I think you meant this:

I was hoping for something USB based and small enough that I can plug and forget in the USB port in the glove compartment.

A2DP Text and steering wheel controls

Do any of these adapters show the song information on the screen and allow for steering wheel controls? It seems like someone would make a fortune if they made one that works just like plugging in the iphone into the usb/aux cable.

You would need to retrofit the Combox to get these features.

Bluetooth A2DP adaptor - easy and affordable

Situation:
I've no BMW USB socket and no Bluetooth A2DP profile for playing music. My E91 handles the phone excellently via Bluetooth and voice-control. What I wanted was a way to play new music in the car. This music is easily put in my phone or synced with my phone or streamed to it.

Solution:
I don't have an iphone or the $ to retrofit a different BMW Bluetooth kit. So I bought an A2DP ipod Bluetooth accessory, such as those in posts above from ebay or Amazon. Ignore the fact this is labelled 'ipod' - you're using it to simply do things. Beside, the older ipod stuff is cheap as chips just now.

This will work with a modern phone that can play music over Bluetooth. Any iPhone or Android device ought to connect to the unit as shown in the picture:
  • ipod connector with USB to power BT and a 3.5mm jack to the car AUX socket £5
  • Griffin low-profile USB cigarette power £2
  • Bluetooth A2DP adaptor on ebay £8

Results:
When the car is switched on, the phone automatically connects to the BMW phone system and the BT ipod adapter. The sound appears through the car AUX input. As reported above, the sound quality is not best and not bad.

The car can only control the music volume so you must use your phone music player to control the play of tracks. I use a playlist. The car phone features work as normal.

Enhancements:
  • Set up the music app 'Google Play' and your phone will have access to all the tracks you have on your computer. This convenience is the bigger deal for me.
  • Use Sony's Smart Connect App (formerly Liveware) to set up the phone to use in the car. I set up my app so that when the ipod adaptor is turned on by the car, it finds my phone and it will start my Google music player.
  • If friends want to play their own tracks in your car, know that anyone can pair with the Bluetooth adaptor if it's not already connected to your phone. It's not fussy like other BT devices.
  • At home the ipod Bluetooth accessory fits older ipod docks and with channel sound from your phone to the dock speakers.
  • I have since ripped out the phone snap-in/eject box to make space in the centre armrest. How this is done is in my other post.

What about one of the USB bluetooth dongle's? Music always sounds better playing from a usb flashdrive versus playing through a headphone jack on my phone.

This is what I was thinking of buying: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400...uetooth+dongle

Is it still going strong?

That is really cheap. And it's coming from Hong Kong. Pretty much everything that I've bought with those properties didn't make it for more than 6 months. Is the adapter still working for you? And how's the audio quality, honestly?

I plan on installing an adapter into the center console housing and running a switch to go between the OE aux-in port and the bluetooth aux-in. This thing would be the perfect size to install comfortably, but if the sound sounds as cheap as the adapter looks, then I'll have to find another solution. And I don't want to have to replace it in a year either since the install will be a bit more cumbersome than most of the solutions on here.

I hope you can get back to me on this, miatawnt2b, or anyone else that's used this adapter.
Thanks.
