If you have a 'fully' compatible mobile, as I've described, the car will download the entire phonebook on bluetooth connection. (After the phone's bluetooth is switched off / moved out of range, the phonebook is lost until re-connection) So...it's as though your phone's phonebook is available to the car to play with! Multiple entries have suffixes. eg Bofarty's home number is available as 'Bofarty (H)', his mobile is 'Bofarty (M)' and his work number is 'Bofarty (W)' If you want to dial Bofarty's mobile, you just have to press the voice entry button on the steering wheel or below the idrive wheel, wait for the beep & best waiting for the voice icon (bottom left of idrive screen) to appear, then say 'Call Bofarty M', give it a sec till it asks 'Do you want to call Bofarty M', wait for the beep & say 'Yes'....it should then call the MF! It works well & seems to be more accurate with longer names- shorter names seem to get confused a lot more easily! It works well & it works in a similar way for CD tracks, nav destination entries & radio station entries & a lot more besides. All the best. Viv |

I rang you a few days ago (probably) & all you did was tell my car how good your's was in comparison..."..yeah & anuver fing...mi babe is a wikkid 10mm lowa innit...yous is laak far too high of di graaand...innit......mi spwings is sooo nasty naaaw.....is so wikkid...innit....." After a couple of minutes of that....the signal strength seemed to drop & my car seemed to just drop the call on you....such a shame Paul, as I was just loving the way you were teasing your car's twin! I'm not sure if my car had updated itself, because a minute after it dropped the call on you, it (probably) came out with "Please refrain from calling that MF ever again- he really is a cheeky boy" in an ever so sexy voice! A minute after her last quote, my car (probably) came out with "Oh...and if he gives the impression of not being at all cheeky, then please tell him where he can stick his nasty springs...he really would feel particularly 'bad' after that, wouldn't he."!
It's a real shame we can't get voice downloads for the car....oh....I wish! BMW- ARE YOU LISTENING?! Viv |

This is the application form with the 6 months free:
http://www.bmw.co.uk/images/appform/...nline_LOGO.pdf Unfortunately it says they will confirm the renewal cost at the end of the trial. I think I may have invented the £60 figure. BMW online is £300 per year so it would be less than that - but it may well be £200 or so. One thing I forgot about is that it phones for help if your airbags deploy - kind of cool. |

I can see this turning into an NWS thread- Lara Croft look-a-likes sprawled pretty much naked over a Bosch Evolution 800...hmmm....

I only I could find a decent picture of the Evo800... all I can find is the square on catalogue views.

BMW Assist
The other cool function that BMW Assist does (I think I read on here or in the manual) is that it allows you to make calls from the cars sim card if you forget your phone or the phone battery dies.
Apparently you only to do this 4 to 5 times a year for 5mins at a time. Seems pretty useful to me! Don't know what you guys think. Please correct me if this is wrong I don't have the car yet to test it!!
