I think BMW added a clutch delay valve to the manual gearboxes that gave the clutch and easier time, if you change it or remove it you can speed up the clutch transitions
I am sure a more technical response will be along soon, perhaps with pictures too http://www.zeckhausen.com/CDV.htm Looks like only listed for petrol engines too......... |

In reality, if you can drive a 'stick shift' (as our friends across the pond say) then you don't really need the CDV and can replace it with a de-restricted version and do what you want with the clutch. Pretty easy to fit - have a word with Ant.
