Schomp buyers - Millennium Tire Insurance Co. files for bankruptcy

Hey all,

A few of us were talking about this in another thread, and I think it needed a thread of it's own... so here it goes...

Millenium Protection Group, Inc. just filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy. They issued the tire/wheel insurance that Schomp has sold for a while now. I bought my tire/wheel insurance from them in May of 2008 with the new car.

If you don't know, chapter 7 bankruptcy is liquidation... no restructing (Chap. 11) or any of that mess... they're done. In fact, the notice I received from the bankruptcy court even said don't submit any claims, because the U.S. trustee says there appears to be no property available to pay creditors. Our policies will be worth ZERO.

Please chime in here with your date of purchase from Schomp if you also had a Millenium plan. If we could approach Schomp together, I think we might be able to get them to help us out some. I don't want to jump down their throats or anything, just try and see if they'll meet us halfway on something.

Maybe a discount on tires through them in the future, twisting the arm of another tire insurance company to get us a cut rate on new insurace, money back, money back on our next car, I don't know, something. I mean, they were pushin' this company's policy... let's see if they're willing to do something for customers who might one day purchase from them again.

Any other Schomp/Millenium purchasers out there? Thoughts?

Yikes! I bought my car from Winslow in Colorado Springs, and was never offered the warranty plan, but I always thought it was through the dealers themselves! Wow, I hope your plans are still worth something!

I regularly use Schomp for all my maintenance and service though, and so far, they've been very helpful. I hope they can work out something for you guys. $1,200+ is a lot of money to be throwing away on a now worthless tire warranty plan!

Good news (for now)
Talked with my sales guy (Robb) and he insists that there will not be an issue.
He just got out of meetings about it and they are BONDED with the company and will not lose any cash....they will transfer to another company or he said SCHOMP will be the main contact and we will not lose out on anything we signed up for!

May change but I doubt it...
He said he will keep me in the loop as he knows more...

Smile All is not lost!

Hi everyone.

I just got my letter from the bankrupsy courts on this "Tires for life" program I bought from Ralph Schomp. I read the posts here and freaked out! I called Ralph Schomp directly and they told me that they were going to be taking over ALL of the warrentys! SO, the warrantys are not void, they can still be redeemed from Ralph Schomp. This will become official in the next couple weeks but if you need tires or anything before hand the gentelman "Chris" said that Ralph Schomp will take care of us!

Good luck everyone
Jen

Angry Just So Happen

I purchase my car Jan 27, 2009. I purchased the tire protection plan because the sales guy went on and on how it be great to have. I took my car in for my routine service and was told I needed new tires, so I told them that I the tires for life program and this when I found out they file bankrupt. I was pissed. I paid 2,500 for something I never used and seem like will never get money back on. I purchase my vehicle from Park Cities Volkswagen in Dallas, Tx. If anyone have any suggestions please let me know.

Exclamation Millenium problem nationwide!

I have read this forum after receiving my "letter". I purchased 2 328i's in '07 with 2 tire packages. I have received $80 worth of service in return. These cars were purchased in Owing's Mills, MD.(Northwest BMW). I permanently reside in FL. I was not told the plan was only fully covered at the MD dealersip. They seem to have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. I have contacted the dealership and didn't receive a reply until I contacted BMW USA. BMW has been helpful, but I feel Northwest is trying to evade the issue. The agent at Northwest stated he had over 400 phone calls regarding this problem. This is not good for PR for Northwest and all the other dealerships that sold these warranties. BMW has a real nightmare here, too. I researched this on the net a found these packagess offered by Porsche, Audi, and Honda. I think we all need to stick together on this one. CB

I had a tire go down in Salt Lake City last weekend... called Schomp and talked to Steve Powers... told me to take care of it in Salt Lake and send him the invoice to get my reimbursemnet handled. Took specific responsibility for being my contact point at Schomp. Very happy with how it was handled.

Northwest BMW

The recent news that Millennium Tires for Life is in chapter 7 bankruptcy is troubling to everyone including Northwest BMW in Owings Mills, MD. Because it is chapter 7 bankruptcy, the company is no longer in operation, meaning that no additional claims can be made. This is an extraordinarily unfortunate circumstance that has many negative consequences for Northwest BMW's clients and Northwest BMW. We take pride in being the Golden Rule dealer and want to assist our clients as much as we possibly can. When you service your vehicle with us please bring in a copy of your Tires for Life policy for additional discounting. We want to do what we can to ameliorate the difficulty this circumstance is presenting.

Well my Dealer "Schomp BMW" in Highlands Ranch Colorado is taking over all the Tire for Life Policies and (me) the customer still pays nothing. Schomp is standing behind what they sold. Also they said it was all BONDED anyway and they were covered for situations like this.
I hope you "Northwest BMW" can do the same for your customers soon.

Good Luck!

Is this just against Northwest BMW and Millenium?
Is Northwest really not supporting thier customers on this?

and its nice that your dealer is honoring claims, but what happens if he sells his business. the new owner wont pay claims. that's why the laws are written on service contracts that you the customer should be able to have claims paid at other authorized dealers. that's how the contract reads, and now there is no 800 to call for authorization.
