I can't claim credit for this - someone posted how to do this at one point.
You can adjust the front wastegate by moving the actuator with shims. I took out the fan, and the air pipe that runs across the front of the engine (sorry, don't know the correct name for the part). You loosen the 3 bolts, and you can use spacers - I made mine taking washers and cutting out a section to make a C shape, since putting a washer there is a huge pain. I ended up stacking the spacers (superglue to each other) one at a time until I could feel a bit of drag on the wastegate under vacuum. (I don't think you can do this properly without removing the downpipes to actually feel the wastegate itself). In my car, I ended up moving the actuator about 1/4 inch. Since you are in there, good time to replace the vacuuum line to the actuator as well. matt |

It is possible, but it is an absolute pain in the ass. And you really should have your down pipes off in order to adjust it properly.

Take your downpipes off and wiggle the wastegate flapper. You'll understand why it rattles and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it. My car is a 2010 with 30k miles and the wastegate flappers seem like they are about to fall off. They are just shitty.

When I first bought my e92 it sounded like a bag of recycling so I adjusted them and it is astronomically less now, of course still rattles a bit though. |
