if you ask most the PE users this question, we'll all tell you to "do it".

the tone is not loud but sexy, unique and tame.

I have to admit that the stock exhaust sound is nice and classy. Quiet at low RPM's, but once you let loose, it growls, but you really have to push it hard to get that loud sound.

The PE takes this up a notch, but maintains the same quietness below 2000 RPM's. With the windows up, it's just a little bit louder than the stock. Standing outside the car and having someone rev up the car, it sounds very nice, and none of that cheap raspy sound you hear on 4-cylinder coffee can exhausts.

I also noticed that it sometimes does this subtle gurgling sound at idle, reminiscent of the old Mustang 5.0's.

Your description of the stock and PE is very accurate. Although I don't have the PE at this time, I've heard it enough times now in person (inside and outside) to make that statement. I also like the burble and "pop" sound that the PE occasionally makes. BMW PE for the win

there is a small tip near the end of the drivers side pipe. they welded that there for you to stick the hose on.

Yes, there is definately a difference compared to the stock exhaust. Much rougher sounding and louder howl at higher revs.

Unless you have $ to burn, go elsewhere to get it. That sounds too high.

tischer is selling them for 1700 for the E90 and around 1000 for the E92.

I think thiss is one of the best sounding exhausts on the market, and its OEM performance.

Whoops, my previous comment was wrong. Tischer prices:

328i coupe/sedan - $1095
335i coupe - $1395
335i sedan - $1695

Fits both xi and non-xi models, extra piping with the 335i sedan.

Did this change the sound of the exhaust compared to videos of the PE posted on this forum? Maybe you can post a video for comparison?

it sounds exactly like most PE video clips, just when i'm under light acceleration, the driver side flap remains close, hint a more quiet tone, once rpm passes 3500rpm, i could hear the flap opens cuz all a sudden the exhaust tone changes to "mean"... it gives me a very comfy freeway cruising... specially with wife sitting in the passenger.

i occasionally unplug the tube and tug it to the nip on the PE muffler when i'm driving by myself, i do enjoy the sound of true dual, but when i'm in the mood of quiet, i can always plug the tube back into the actuator and have a more quiet drive.

this is which the euro version PE comes with, i don't know why the US version PE does not have the flap intact in the driver side tip.

Do you still have the burbles and pops when the flap is closed? I know several forum members like this about the PE, but I could use without it. I was wondering the same thing, as to why the euro version has the flap and the US version does not. Maybe somebody can key in?

Noise regulations are stricter in the EU and the exhaust may not exceed a certain db level.

Currently the noise is measured at a certain rpm level which in occurence is below the treshold where the flap opens. So the flap permits to meet certain legislative criteriae.

Otherwise an exhaust system on cars like a Ferrari Scuderia (>130db) could never get street approved. But I hear these regulations are about to change, setting a global db limit

As an update to my install, Ive had mine for about 3 weeks now and took my first really long drive in the car and I noticed the sound has changed. It has become more refined (best description I could think of) at lower RPMs and sounds even nicer. I assume after 7-800 miles of driving it is finally broken in and this is the true sound. Nothing like getting a little icing on the cake!
