Verbatim DVDs at 8x write speed, never had an issue before but worth a try I suppose.

I don't have the 'tick on i' in the nav screen, is that relevant for updating maps?

Hi all, first post on the forum but been reading for a while. Had my car for nearly a year now and really like it. This place is a cracking resource.

Anyway, felt like I needed to register to say thanks for the heads up on the 2017-2 maps and also the posts/links about how to extract the relevant file from my car to generate my own FSC. Last year after I first got the car I bought a code from eBay for a tenner which worked fine to update to 2016 maps. I was vaguely aware of the process to get the 1b file but was a bit worried about mucking something up.

Anyway, from this thread I decided to give it a go myself. Bought an OBD2>ethernet adapter from eBay for £7.50 and followed the instructions (and the updates in that thread from undecided1, thelolkid and others) to retrieve the right file. FWIW I'm on Windows 10, used Chrome and didn't need to log in, turn on the ignition or anything. Editing went fine and the FSC code worked perfectly first time. Really happy I can now generate codes for the foreseeable future as I see myself keeping the car for a good while.

Bit fast, try 4x. Verbatim are good DVDs though. Yes tick on i needed for usb updates so maybe stick to DVDs. Are they DVD-r or DVD+r? Think need to be DVD-r ?

DVD+R DL, which is what I've always used before (at 8x), although not always Verbatim and I've only ever done the DVD update, not USB.

There's nothing different to what I've done on previously successful map updates, which makes me think it's the data I've downloaded that's the issue.

I have Bmw e90 from 07/2010 and i do not know if i can use 1-usb files ?
I have already do an update with 2015-2 but i don't remebmer if i use 3 usb key or 1.
When i look il the parameter there isnot writen USB next to premium like on the picture on the first page.

hi language is different and can't be changed via map updates.
if car is 07/10 and you've already managed to update to 2015-2 without issue then there should be no reason why you can't update to 2017-2.
I updated from 3x usb for 2017-1 and it did not say (USB) in the description afterwards, for 2017-2 I updated from 1x usb and it now shows (USB) in the description - not sure if this is because of that but every chance it is (the 3x usb version had 3 ISO files in it from memory so you could also update via DVD I think hence it wouldn't know which method was used to update, with 1x usb it is far too large for DVD so car would know it must have been a usb update... makes no difference to how it functions though). I want the new maps loaded ASAP so I chose between 1/3 usb versions based on what was available first, for 2017-1 the 3x usb update was first one available to download, for 2017-2 the 1x usb update appeared first.
