New 330xi in DC - DC / NOVA Detailing Masters?
Hey guys, I just "imported" my CPO 2006 330xi from a dealer up in NJ and am in my second week and about 600 miles in on a base of 30K from the first owner. Lots of learning to do as I have been driving and tuning VR6s for 10 years and this is my first BMW.
I need to partner up with someone on some minor cosmetic body work and find a regular detailing guru. Could you guys give me some suggestions of some of your favorite DC / NOVA detailing shops? I live in Georgetown and so someone lower DC and NOVA would be best for me to get to... PMs would be great if you don't care to post... Thanks and look forward to seeing you around. I will post some pics of the new ride soon. Monaco Blue with Beige interior on the 06 18s with a 6 speed. I am pumped. Thanks for hooking me up with some suggestions for a detailing bodywork guru...!! I already got a cover for her as there are way too many birds and gingko trees in my neighborhood to leave her outside once I get the bodywork and detailing all sorted back up to 100%. I think the previous owner let their cat crawl on my blue paint and the crappy "brushless" car wash I went to next to Tischer today took a little bite out of me this morning. Stay away from that thing! /Josh |

Welcome! Another 330 in town. I've used shimshimhada in the past and he does a great job: http://www.e90post.com/forums/member.php?u=2927
Raja, I'm sure would do a great job, too. Many folks here have used his services.

Auria,
Thanks! How is everything player? BK & Bryan, Thank you as well!!! Yes, there are pretty much 3 detailers in the area. We all do great work and really take pride in our work. If you are in Maryland - Zaxjax is your best option if you are in VA - it's me or shimshimhada. Shim is more flexible as he is mobile. Also, my schedule is always a little booked up, so I need at least 2-3 weeks heads up. Josh, I will talk to u 2night and get you started in the right direction. |

Raja,
Look forward to catching up soon man. Sorry we didn't connect this evening - Mt Rushmore is something else (the town right nearby and all the tourist trap stuff not so much). I will be back in DC on Thursday so let's talk when I am back. The pics look excellent. That Porsche is apparently made of butter cream. Lovely. :-) Talk to you soon. Josh

Thought you might be interested in my #2
THANKS MEMO!! I spoke with Raja by phone on Friday and I gotta say I am really looking forward to working with him.
I thought you guys might like to get a taste for what I have been doing the last ten years in the Satty. She's a 95 B4 5spd VW Passat Wagon. I bought her in 1999 and well I took the last ten years pretty much refining every aspect of her drivetrain and handling that I wanted to get into. The most eye opening instructive deep mod I ever did to her was swap out the flywheel on the VR6. Boy did the Satty teach me a lot. So, I am still debating whether I should call the new 330xi the "little brother" or the "little grandson" as heck it's been 10 years in the Satty. Just took her out for some sprints in the wet DC weather today as I get ready to sell her and well you know how it goes... I kind of fell in love again and started thinking about how I could keep her around as a winter car...let's just say that well my wife is ready to say goodbye! :-)

Would you believe i looked over the bumper products that were out there and I found them kinda lacking so I made these with parts from Home Depot, EMS and Target for like $60 for the pair. They work really well as they protect the corners where people just can't help themselves and rub as they squeeze in. We have some really aggressive touch parking bovines here in the Georgetown area and rather than worry about it I am just going to put the darth vader barriers on there and fuhgeddaboudit. :-) My other enemies here in Georgetown are the Birds and the Gingko tree fruit. I have already ordered a cover and will probably park her over on Rose Park over there with the bumpers on so she doesn't get messed up by drunks walking on M street. /josh PS Just look at this. Some minivan driver parking right in front of my house wiggled in just inches from this poor little corolla. This is why I am not leaving my bumpers exposed cuz if I do "minivan jeanie" will definitely come along and do her worst while she's on the phone and yelling at the kids : PPS let me know if you want me to make you some.

1) i am taking one off the other day and some dude walking by walks up to me and leans in real close to ask "is that a solar panel?" -- naturally I said "yes!" 2) one of the guys over at vortex said the car looks like Dark Helmet that really made my day
