Where does that hairdresser title come from?
Seems that many very decent cars get labelled with it - maybe it's a way for those that can't afford one to make themselves feel better or something?! TT, MX5, MR2, Boxster and many others - all great cars, all get "that" label. |

The 335ix (there isn't a 335dx) seems to have mixed reviews from the States - it rides very high (even M Sported up), is more "wallowy" and weighs a HUGE amount more than the non x-drive.
I think if you want AWD, you need an Audi not an "x" BMW. |

Audi get away with being able to design 4WD cars for all markets because fundamentally their cars are FWD and therefore by design must be able to work with both right and left hand drive cars. Adding 4WD rearwards is easy - doing it the other way from a rear wheel drive car is much harder. That is also why the BMW 4WD saloon cars are dynamically flawed - they just weren't designed to have the same balance with a 4WD system, hence the wallowy handling (which is exacerbated by the elevated ride height) BMW don't see enough commercial interest in a 4WD saloon car in the UK market - Audi have it all sewn up.

I know a guy with a remapped 3.0TDI A4 - now on 275bhp and a bit under 400lbs-ft.
But the car still steers badly, still has snatchy brakes and is still sold by the worst dealers this side of Vauxhall. Does sound good with a Milltek exhaust though - is anything like that available for the 335d? |
