I know you well enough to know that I don't think you will be 100% happy with any less than Lepson's as well or Pristine in Milton Keynes. However at £60 a wheel its a bargain if it turns out well. After Elite damaged my wheels (which I have to pay for), I was quoted circa £340 plus VAT by Pristine. Perhaps the two big names would do a better deal for two sets?

Another place to try maybe Wheel Works in Crawley who Scooba on here has used and he recommends them.

As long as they are careful putting the tyres back on then they will be fine, once they have been cured the powder is still 'hard' but it takes 24 hours for the powder to get to its full hardness state and and offer its full protection capabilities.

How long are you planning to keep the X5? If planning to have it next winter why not hit Ebay and buy a set of 18" or 19" that you can use now and then fit winter tyres to for next year. My X5 was frighteningly bad in the ice before Christmas and terrified my wife as all that weight made it just want to slide on no matter how slow you are going. Just a thought.

Ive just cancelled my booking with JP and im now booked in with The Wheel Specialist in London for next Tuesday. Main reason was that they offer the same day turnaround - more expensive than JP at £70 plus VAT (£336 total) - but the fact the car is only off the road for a day makes it worthwhile. Just hope they are as good as Lepsons???
Im going for their "high power silver" - as i want a really bright and shiny finish. Will post up pics and feedback after the event. Thanks again for advice guys.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on The Wheel Specialist. Again, do you know the process they employ? Is it just the visible face of the wheel they do or the entire thing?

I've just dropped a set round there.

I've always used Lepsons in the past and have always been well pleased with the results, however after reading Scooba's recommendation about Wheel works I popped round there last week to have a word and looked at some they had recently done.

£55.00pw + VAT sounds good and from memory is slightly cheaper than Lepsons, so we'll see how they do.

I would have liked to have tried Wheel Works but Crawley is no easier for me geographically than Lepsons - so will go ahead with Wheel Specialists and see. Typical for me they are one of the most expensive like Lepsons - maybe I can ask them for a cash price less the vat!!?? Oh and yes they refurb the entire wheel and is a thorough process.

Another vote for wheel works in Crawley.

They state if booked in and arrive early morning they can turn them round in a day. Not bad prices too and full strip down/ powder coat.

I cant believe im doing this - but ive changed my mind AGAIN and i cancelled The Wheel Specialist and im now booked in with Wheel Works in Crawley for March 8th!! They have quoted me £60 plus VAT per wheel (20" rims) and due to size/weight of car they have asked that they keep it overnight and collect following day. I told them i wanted the brightest and shiniest silver finish and they have recommended their "Plantinum" finish. Thanks again for all the advice and info guys!!

Steve,

Are they going to shot blast them first? If not, then make sure that the inside of the wheel is absolutely spotless before getting the refurb done as many companies won't bother and you'll be left with a rough finish on the insides. Otherwise, £60+VAT sounds pretty reasonable to me.

They remove the tyre, pickle the wheel in acid then bead blast the rim before they start painting , the inside will be as good as new , I had a guided tour last year .

Got mine booked in for Refurb with Lepsons in Swindon the middle of next month.

Had the car a month and they are just so crap as they are.

Had to book their courtesy vehicle for three days to get me back home and to work but at £10 a day plus vat - not a problem.

I`ve already got a new set of 'M` badges for them ready as well.

Good reviews everywhere - looking forward to seeing the results .

Fingers crossed.

Got my wheels back from Wheelworks today.
Very, very impressed with the finish, service and cost.

The Guys swopped the GPowers for the Alufelgens, and I've left the GPowers behind for a Anthracite gloss finish which looked the dogs on some wheels they had just cooked.

Thanks to Scooba for the recommendation

Looks awesome on those wheels Ian.
Dare I say it, I'd be tempted to keep those on in lieu of the G Powers.
