Gloss black roof wrap or paint?
Hi Guys,
I have decided to either wrap my roof of my AW E90, i got dark gunmetal wheels & performance mirrors, splitters & rear spoiler in carbon fiber. i dunno how the wrap will hold up in the warm & humid climate here in India. Over here the wrapping will cost around 100$ & to get the roof painted by the dealer will cost are $400-500. Dunno if i want to go permanent or just wrap it, how are the durability of these wraps? can they be washed like normal paint? i mean pressure wash etc? Thanks.. |

Humidity has nothing to do with vinyl durability. If installed properly, it will last for years. You will have reduced life due to sun, but the sun probably fades paint faster there too. Only downside of wrap is that it doesn't have depth of paint. But it will hold up to washing and the elements just fine.

Lease or own?
If a lease- wrap it. If you own it- paint it Otherwise they are going to bang you at the end at lease return for painting that roof. Ask me how I know. |

Then again, if you grow tired of it, vinyl is cheaper and you can simply remove it. Not sure how glossy you're going for, and if vinyl will retain that glossy look year in and year out, but I imagine there are plenty to choose from.

3m and Oracle both make great products. I've heard that Oracle is a bit easier to work with than 3m but I used 3m Di-Noc to wrap my interior with no problems.

DIY and save yourself some money. Otherwise, I can't give you a recommendation by brand alone, it depends on the product line as well.
