With the other platforms...although generally one would think, "up the boost, up the power" it's not entirely true with the way cars are advanced these days. But even then...one 135i running 13psi will yield a different hp/tq number than another 135i running 13psi. |

A member should be stopping by tomorrow morning for purchase...I'll ask for their feedback once they drive home...although I can't say they'll drive directly from the shop to home...given the new power.

I have used COBB's AccessPort on my 05 WRX STi since 05. I had COBB dyno tune my car last year as well. I can say that the AccessPort works great just as advertised.
I do have a question for COBB about the Dyno they used here. Was it your Mustang 4 wheel dyne, or are these numbers at the crank? The Mustang Dyno's give very low numbers.

What happens in the event of 'DME Bricking' during flashing?
Unlikely, perhaps, but I work in IT and have to flash certain devices from time to time, routers, phones, BIOS' etc -- they work most of the time, but occasionally it'll go wrong and the device becomes pretty much null & void. The last thing I'd want is a bricked BMW DME. A quick Google search yields some threads from STI owners who managed to brick their ECU. Is this something we need to worry about? |

I just got back from Cobb's "First Thursday" event here in Plano and was lucky enough to get my car on the dyno to show the results from the tune.
As previously mentioned, I've been running the Stage1 93-octane map on my car for the past three days and am very happy with the results on the street but anxious to see how they looked on the dyno. My car is a 2010 E92 steptronic with 7300 miles on it and bone-stock right down to the paper air filter. With the tune alone, we picked up 53 HP and 98 ft-#! My last numbers were 311/384, plotting to ~6500 RPM. Peak power arrived right at 5000 RPM and torque peaked early at around 2800 RPM, holding at or above 360 ft-# through 4000 RPM. These are great results through an automatic! The wideband A/F reading looked really nice too, holding steady at around 11.5:1 from 3200 - 6500 RPM. Cobb uses a Mustang 4-wheel dyno which differs greatly from the inertia-based Dynojets we're used to seeing plots from. The Mustang is a better dyno for tuning applications and calculates its numbers differently from a Dynojet. I can't say how my results translate to a 2-wheel 248C but I think my next set of mods (downpipes and intercooler) will follow a few pulls on a local Dynojet just so you can get familiar with the numbers. |
