Bluetooth Retrofits from EAS
Has anyone installed it? Is it the same as Bimmernav ones but cheaper?
The site says its a ULF Module, and i thought that ULF for Euro spec and TCU is for US Spec.....

I don't see in their website any OEM Bluetooth retrofit for any MOST BMW (E90, E60, E70...), only for IBus BMW's...

If you can install all the parts yourself and find an online dealer with discount parts (especially those that give up to 20% off if you are a member of the BMWCCA), then it will be a matter of having your local dealer program the system only. That could save you the very most... |

wait... am i missing something here?
Bimmernav kits require *ADDITIONAL* dealer parts? What exactly does it need? I thought all that is required is a module, mic and a mounting bracket? plus activation....

You can try to talk with bimmernav to see if they still offer the MOST ULF (no Assist hardware required), but be aware of the issues with that ULF functionality noted in that DIY link. |

They estimated 1.5 hours for installation, and 3 hours for programming OR more. They said it was $85 an hour. It may take the whole day or longer. I did not want to be the guinea pig especially with those variable rates. It could have been anywhere from $400 to more than $1k! Although I was the guinea pig to Savage BMW, I can say I at least felt more comfortable with its work being guaranteed as a dealership. Nothing at all against EAS solefald--just make sure they can give you a FINITE price and eta and if they have actually programmed a car succesfully with ULF...successful meaning full compatibility including English voice command. If no English voice command then not the end of the world either. Just establish the price and it can be a cheaper alternative to the TCU retrofit in the very least. To answer your question: I am not sure what the most recent ULF generation was--it may have been 13th generation. Call Martin, make sure he still sells the ULF as Technic noted...I ordered a kit and I got TCU instead. I know a few others have been getting the TCU instead of the ULF. Call EAS and make sure they are selling the most current generation ULF. |

haha, this shit is getting complicated.
i think i should save time and money and go with parrot 3000 + steering wheel integration. wonder if i can disable the caller id announcement with that thing... to me its a privacy issue. i don't always want my passengers to know who is calling me, plus i always keep my phone next to me, so i can look at it. and really, all i need is basic hands-free and OEM look. and i will also buy an alarm with the money i save! EDIT: It is confirmed by QuickConnect guys that Parrot does not announce caller ID, unless voice tag assigned to that particular number. Sweet!

I have the parrot kit with quick connect here already, waiting for my car to get out of the body shop, so i can install it. Damnit.... I guess since it is already here, i will install it and see how it works. If i don't like it, i will be in a market for a new kit....

that sounds awesome. do you know which phones will work with this (specifically Nokia e51 with the S60 operating system)? Will it have the same functionality as the original (via radio display?)

This will fully emulate the factory TCU, including steering wheel and numerical/text display on the radio/iDrive screen.
