so... I picked up my car today and drove a bit. As it is quite cold today, I didn't do any measurements yet with the DB. Will this however this week.
First impression:
engine picks up faster and has more punch in the low revs. It also revs much easier above 5500-6000. Before I never saw the point of revving it up to 7000 as it felt lame in the high RPM range. This feeling is gone! The power keeps coming, keeps increasing, reminds me more of my Z4M now. I pushed it on the highways and here the difference is more then noticeable... So, I am smiling and more then happy, especially as I bought the kit for the cooling.
(although IMO, BMW should deliver the 335i standard like this)

My car is in for the PK today. To answer a few of the common questions:

1) My car is a '08 E90 (AT). MSD80. PK no problem.
2) Price is about $4000.00 installed (no exhuast included in that price!).
3) I did a pre install dyna run, so can post actual wheel gains in a few days.
4) Dealer called to say they need 2 days. Most definitely not a 4 hour job...

Hopefully car will be home on Friday.

I managed to do a few runs today... needed to know myself
I measured at the same stretch of road, and did multiple runs before and after. Today it was about 5 degrees C colder.

The figures are like this:

Without PK but with the performance exhaust already installed I was running 8.2s-8.3s on 40-140km/h / 24.855-86.922Mph (this is starting with the DCT transmission in first, sport mode one)

After installation I am running 7.4s consistently. This means a 0.8s improvement on 40-140 km/h. I didnot drive a lot, so maybe it will improve even a bit.

The improvement that an other user has measured of a 1.8s improvement in 0-200 is in line with this, taken into account that the biggest gain is at higher speeds.

Conclusion:

Interesting read that to see the difference between the BMW tune and after market flashes etc. My car does that 140km/h time from standstill in around 8 seconds.

sure, but the power kit is made to last (made to let the engine last) as BMW standards apply. With a flash this is a different story. Warranty is another point. The kit is for sure not the cheapest way to get HP, but it provides a significant improve with no risk and and it provides the needed cooling when tracking / pushing the car. With the experience I have with my car, I would never increase the HP without upgrading the cooling. Even standard the cooling was not enough.

Excellent review Marcel!

And you are correct; the health of the engine is definitely in BMW's mind when the Power Kit is developed. Could they have pushed it a little more? Possibly; who know?
I believe that power without refinement is calling for driving dissatisfaction.

BMW should have called this a Tuning Kit. The power increase is minimal but the kit smooths the "rough spots" of the engine.

At least with the ZMP. The perf seats would be awesome too.

they should at least be on option you can order from the factory. Then they would not cost more then the standard leather sport seats. I know what I would choose

I see in your signature, you're in Switzerland. What is the altitude where you got these results? I'm in Denver, CO (6000 ft, 1800m) and I was wondering how the PK performs in high altitude.

Thanks,
Jim

hi all... been reading all the feedback and you guys have tempted me into the PK!

Am based in the UK and thinking of getting the power upgrade and exhaust all together... anyone have any thoughts on how much i should pay ? Also my local dealer hasn't fitted the power-upgrade before, and i don't fancy being their guinea pig. Has anyone in the UK used a london/surrey dealer for the install ?

Many thanks!

I am beyond excited...I just leased a 2010 E92 with the PK and Performance Exhaust. The car with out the "extras" was 57,5325...with them it was over 61K. I knew they recieved cash for all the performance parts so I got to negotiate on the original MSRP. ANyways I got 3 years, 15K, 1500 down(including 1st payment) for under $750 a year. I am so excited...I know this is useless without PICS but I don't pick up the car until Tuesday then I will. It has the premium sound which is honestly a necessity. I am an audio guy and wanted a LMB but once I heard the standard sound I could not live with it. I actually bought a car because of the stereo, but so excited once I heard it!!!! I will post pics Tuesday night or Wednesday. For now here is a link to it... http://bmwoforlandpark.com/vehicle-d...pe/103601.html

Hi, not yet. Was thinking about selling the car to swap for an r8 after a spin in my friends car a couple of months ago. Mulled it over for a couple of wks before coming to the conclusion that I really do need 4 seats and the 335 is actually perfect.

So I'm still gonna have it done, just been a bit delayed. Haven't had any recommendations on a dealer to do the install and not too keen on being the guinea pig for my local garage.

Yeah, being a guinea pig is not fun. But I think it's hard to find a garage that has done it before.

With the big price drop for MSD80 cars this is getting back into the 'I want it!' radar. Tischer's price is something like $1900 now. Very tempting...

I am really surprised there is no plastic venting to cover the new cooler!?!?! Seems like the tires could sling some stuff on there and really do some damage?

Mine does. It has a cover similar to the one on the oil cooler..I think you may be missing a piece.

It definitely has a cover. The Power Kit (not the air duct kit) includes it.
