There is nothing wrong with the coilovers....OP seems to have a defective strut and hopefully it should be warrantied because from the video it clearly shows something internall wrong with it...Since my purchase of the FK silverlines X, they have also revised the endlinks which so many are having problems with the old ones...The new endlinks which are all black seems to be engineered better than the gold ones that I got....I hope SPP steps up and does the right thing for Alan....For me its an easy fix, since I took bought his old ones....

There is really nothing they should say but give you a replacment one immediately IMO...Your video clearly shows that there is something wrong with the strut and having a problem with a suspension part, they should try to take care of it immediately before anything god forbid happens...
I will wait and see what they are going to do for you and I....

So I spoke to the guys over at ECS Tuning which were super nice and even went out and took a picture for me of what they were trying to explain. Basically i have one other area I could check out to see if its causing he insert to move around inside the shock body.

In this pic there is a collar with two holes on top that actually acts like a cap which keeps the Koni insert inside of the FK coilover body. If that comes loose (which they've seen happen before) it can cause clunking noises. Looking at the whole assembly I didn't even notice there was a collar there that can open/close until ECS sent me the pic of an actual 335 strut. I spoke to Eric as SPP and he also thought this is a possibility and its worth a shot to have it checked out. I had to order some special tool (spanner wrench) to see if i can tighten it without removing it from the car. The tool should come in today so I'll have an update after this weekend.

If this isn't the cause then we have no other option but to replace it with a new one because we've checked everything else including putting on brand new endlinks which i bought.

Hmmm...That looks like its a possibility that if it was loose, it would cause it to have play...Keep us posted man, I hope it fixes it....

*************** Problem Solved!*********************

Turns out ECS Tuning was right. The collar on my FK strut was mad loose. I was able to turn it freely with my hand easily. This collar is what keeps the Koni insert secure inside of the strut body so if its loose, it allows minor movement of the insert causing noise.

I picked up a adjustable spanner wrench to tigten it up and now the coilovers are back to normal. Completely silent operation over any kind of bumps. I checked the pass. side and that was tight already. I finally get to enjoy my car again!

Good to hear! Glad it wasn't defective. Did you put some thread lock on it to make sure it doesn't happen again? Might be a good idea.

Restores my faith in these products with such a fix. Maybe put some treadlocker on there so it doesn't happen again?

Thanks guys. I'm also glad it was a simple fix even though it took me a few weeks and countless times taking off my wheels to figure out. Matt (itsbrokeagain) also helped me out alot with changing out my endlinks even though it wasn't the culprit. Having the car on the lift helped me make sure where the noise was coming from and verify it wasn't something else.

I didn't put on any thread locker but if it ever comes loose again I def will. I have that sucker pretty tight now and I suspect it came relatively loose from FK to begin with.

Thanks Steven. We should meet up again some day. You live like 5mins away.

Derek - I heard it's common on the KW setup too. Sears sell the tool or you can use a pipe wrench. Witht the proper tool you can tighten with it all on the car inbetween the coil spring.

ECS tuning doesn't seem to sell it anymore but you can search other places online for "adjustable spanner wrench"

Looks exactly like this
