ABS dead

The car has been parked in the garage for around 3 weeks under a cover all good .
Thought i would give it a run on Thursday backed it out of the garage warmed up the engine, then BING BONG ABS failure .

Drove the car to work pluged in Autologic and it comes up with ABS failure replace unit.
Spoke to BMW sorry sir your price is $3400.00 i said shit not a good look as the car has only done 12,00km seams like a lot of pre 09 BMW have this issue and no fix just replace. No way was i a happy camper this is crap, i want a new Buell not a new ABS unit.

So here we go another R&D fix, Chris and i spent most of Thursday stripping the unit very carefully to see how the thing works.

Well the short story its all good now i wonder how many units have been biffed into the bin when they could have been fixed
and could have saved the client $5000.00.

Shit that doesn't sound good, one would think that there should be nothing wrong with it as you pointed out!

I guess you could get one used for a reasonable price, hopefully advan can nut this one out!

All fixed , cost about 4 hours labour and two ltrs of brake fluid.
Still sucks this should not happen. I love these cars BUT there are just to many electronic issues for such a newish car, i do pitty the owners in 10 years time God help us all.

If i could not fix the unit you would have no option but to replace, as you cant recode a used unit Sucks.

BMW ( Bring Money With you ) car price $125,000 service cost 10 years $50,000 why would you

Hi Peter,

Do you know if the ABS unit in the 335i E92 is the same as a 325i E92?

for every non-engine related sensor, the answer is also 'yes'

Some dyno sheets

Hi all
Had some time so fitted up the HPF intercooler today, God these things are big shame you cant get them any more.

The dyno sheets are with and without the HPF intercooler no change to Cobb tuning. Most of the power is top end but the dyno room is only 19deg so most of the increase comes from much better flow through the super large core, But on a hot day you would see a good difference through the power run as the air temp would be a lot more stable therefore much less or no fuel/ignition compensation. With this size intercooler you could run a lot more boost and maybe a pair of RB turbos. As you can see I am still only running 11-14lb this time I ran the engine all the way to 7000rpm, I would not normally go there as power is long gone by 6500rpm with the stock setup.

All in all very worth while to replace the stock intercooler.

By the way just because I use the HPF intercooler doesn't mean I think its the best. But it will do me for the moment.

Very nice!

Just curious, which map (cobb) are you running?? Last time mine was in the shop (around January?) it made 255rwkw on stage 2+ running around 17 - 18psi. Although from memory, temps were around 32deg (summer).

Awesome Pete! I was going to go the HPF route - but the helix is a option as you can get a replacement J pipe to get rid of the stock piping (and they are still around).

I am in awe with your power curve!! I can't say i've seen a curve like it on stock snails.

There's no point doing just the diff and not the subframe because you need the drive shafts and prop shaft anyway. The subframe itself doesn't cost much and you kind of need the rear subframe bushings too which would come with the subframe itself.

I'm not sure whether its possible to mount an m3 diff onto the stock subframe but even if you could it would be more economical to just buy an entire rear axle which includes the subframe, diff, bushings and driveshafts.

You think it will be hard to fit the diff whiteout the m3 subframe? ill got a e82 135i so i think its the same frame as e9X 335. Isn't anyone tried to fit the diff one the original subframe?

All good, The E90/92 M3 diff will bolt up to the 135/335 subframe.

Just use the diff unit, half shafts and retain the stock 135/335 hubs and carriers you would need to make the mode to the rear section of the stock drive shaft.

Either use a 7 series or M3 CV joint and flange and have a new rear drive shaft tube made to suit

But you should try and use the complete M3 rear as the subframe from the
M3 is so much more ridged than the 135/335

Good luck
