I can see how it looks impressive and dare say gets airflow back to how it should be. But what about the state of the valve to seat and guide fit?

So for 2-3 hours work... It isn't bad at all.

Iv had mine done josh. I did it at my house. All im saying is thats far too cheap for a garge with overheads etc etc. The time consumed doing so you could eqrn more fitting an intercooler. Lol.

Cant see it myself. Mines all squeeky clean inside so im not fussed whay others pay or get done. I built my own kit to do so and sorted mine in about 3 hours or so.

Even a shop with overheads... A very simple job, as long as you have the right tools... which all shops have a powerful compressor and a relatively cheap purchase (for a garage) of an n54 specific adaptor, and 2-3 hours at an indy labour rate of MAX £70 per hour... £280 is about the right price imo

Has anybody had this done at this garage as yet? (or even used them for other things?) I presume cost for a 325i (N53) would be the same as a 335.

Mine is getting very juddery at idle when cold and is hesitant when pulling away, which sounds a lot like this problem, and my BM dealer wanted £200 just to take the inlet manifold off to see if this was the issue!

Any direct injection engine seems to have the potential. But difficult to find much info about it...

Go to them for a quote. The labour rate is good. They use bmw labour unit to work out how much you will be charge. Expect half the price from bmw.

For me i had a bad experiance with a quote. Rude service, unable to help when i had leaking brake lines, told me to wait a week . I only complain on how badly i was treated and £300 to change front brake disc /pads and refit front brake hose. Anyone will know it does not take 6 hours labour.

However when someone here has actually done it, i will do mine too.

After that experience you would still have them work on your car ? An error with this blasting process could be fatal ?!???

Hardly an advert ;-)

Aren't there principles at stake though. If someone's rude and overcharging then take your business elsewhere.

Because this Walnut cleaning price is a bargain. If they can do a good job i 'll let them take my business for this time only.

well Sometimes principle can be swallowed up to achieve something.

Yup, what is the point for principle to go elsewhere to pay more for the same thing? If both A and B offers the same thing and 'A' give you bad service and you go to 'B' to pay 50% more because of your principle then it's a loose loose situation would it not? The 50% price difference comes from your hard working time. People might do X many hours for that difference.

You fight with money or with pricinciple?

Well the definition of the word is "Values". They're different for each of us I suppose.

Certainly agree with you with that point.

You as a sucessful man with lots of different nice cars , probably high up in the company or maybe a owner of a company would have long forgotten how us lower class feels .

Can someone enlighten me as to what all the excitement is about this "walnut blasting", and why people with what I'd consider low mileages (50k miles) are having it done?

I've never done anything like this on any BMW I've owned, and all my others had covered a lot of miles.
