E90 335 to M3 stabilizers part list - input requested
I have an 07 E90 335i. As I need my current aftermarket stabilizers replaced because of poor quality/interference, I am considering going with the M3 components. This is the part list I have compiled, am I missing anything? Do I need to use the M3 swing supports as well? I searched/read older threads but couldn't find anything with part numbers for the E90 specifically, I apologize if I missed an old thread
Front 31352283515 Stabilizer, front 31352283516 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, bottom 31352283517 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, top 31352283037 Stabilizer support Rear 33552283655 Stabilizer, rear 33552283709 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, bottom 33552283710 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, top 33552283714 Stabilizer support Thanks for any input |

I am assuming that this is for sway bars?
If so do the front and leave the rear stock (or remove it). If you do the rear it will be un safe (ask berk). I have the front and it is a nice mod

What is unsafe about the rear? I don't know of Berk, unless he is the one who was returned his car with the rears installed upside down

Berk is on 1 addicts and professionally races the 1er.
It is too stiff unless you have a lsd so you will skip across and constantly lose traction. Also makes it very unsafe to drive with traction control off. They found it handled better with no rear bar.

Wow, I'm glad I asked. In that case I will probably be putting on a standard bar (which as far as I can tell is the same whether it's ZSP or not)

No one can comment on whether or not you must use the M3 "swing supports" up front? Realoem does not cross reference them, so I am leaning toward just ordering them as well
For 335: 31356765933 Swing support, front, left 31356765934 Swing support, front, right For M3: 31352283441 Swing support, front, left 31352283442 Swing support, front, right Some hardware is also different: For 335: 07119904295 Self-locking collar nut (Same as M3) 31356757707 Hex nut with plate For M3: 07119904295 Self-locking collar nut (Same as 335) 33326768884 Hexagon nut with collar Since hardware is cheap I will most likely just order and put on new if necessary. So, my final projected order is as follows (only doing front for now as it is an easy DIY, will do rear if not satisfied): 31352283515 Stabilizer, front 31352283516 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, bottom 31352283517 Rubber bushing, antiroll bar, top 31352283037 Stabilizer support 31352283441 Swing support, front, left 31352283442 Swing support, front, right 07119904295 Self-locking collar nut (Same as 335) 33326768884 Hexagon nut with collar Hopefully someone who's made this change can comment. I'm not ordering right away, but definitely before the month is done. Will post results. Last edited by BTM; 07-21-2010 at 10:40 AM.. |

Yes, I'm pretty content with going OEM+ on this one. My car came with aftermarket bars on it (idk what they are) and they are causing problems (hitting tie rod, squeaky over bumps). Since I know this is a direct fit and I don't track or anything I don't really have the need for bars that thick.

Whoever said that it's bad to put just a rear sway in, especially a rather tame unit like the m3 bar is very wrong. I have the m3 rear in my car, and the stock front bar, and it is a pretty nice balanced feel.
On the other hand, putting just an upgraded front bar in will take an already understeer-prone car and make it even worse. I would advise against putting just a front bar in, even though the labor is much more intense for the rear.

Just what BerkTechnology said and if you do some searching I can think of a few people who were very unhappy with a stronger rear bar.
Also with our cars, if I'm not mistaken, a front tightens up the front (not rear) and vice cersa.

It really depends on your particular set-up and how the car will be driven. The driver also has a lot to do with it. You can run the M3 rear bar with soft spring rates without the lost of traction someone mentioned here.

Thanks for the input. As there is already a aftermarket rear bar installed I am hoping that the handling will not be too much affected by switching the front to M3. I will do the rear eventually, but would like to wait for changing my exhaust and perhaps springs shocks. For now I just want the problems the front bar is causing to stop. If I feel like I need to tighten up the front more after installation I will probably install a strut bar as well.
FWIW here is a pic of the installed bar. I didn't take one of the rear but it has the same light silver finish. Any ideas as to what it is? |

Have you searched a bit? Because I've written a very long review about just these modifications with all part numbers in it.
