'09 335i with Sirius Prep... What do I need to do to get Sat Radio?
I'm more than likely getting a '09 335i tomorrow with iDrive and Satellite Radio prep. However, it doesn't have satellite radio. My dad called the parts department manager at a regional BMW dealer yesterday (NOT the one I'm buying the car from, and don't want to say which one because I don't want to be potentially badmouthing this guy, as he has been great to us in the past), and he said it was going to cost over $1000 to actually put satellite radio in the car... He said they would have to put this module or something in and it was going to be like 3 hours of labor. This didn't make sense to me, because the car already has the "prep" work done for Satellite Radio, and this would seem to me to be part of the "prep" work. I've been doing some searching and from what I gather this guy is WRONG, and I only need to buy a Sirius subscription and enter the PIN somehow...
Am I right, or is he? If it's just a matter of buying a subscription and entering a PIN how do I do that? Thanks! Mike Last edited by ///Mikey F80; 02-08-2013 at 08:55 AM.. |

No you need a satellite radio module. However, I am told if you car was made before 09 then you don't need the FSC code which is like 250.00..
You can put the module in yourself it just mounts in the back with like 2 bolts. Easy and will save you from charging you for labor plus programing.. It is the FSC code that is killer if you need it. |
