Yet another thread with a BMW driver having an idea fix about evil Kias trying to race him... The previous one, if memory serves, was a guy stalked by an army of red Hyundai Genesis.

I know the Optima turbo is torque limited up until 3rd gear. It really puts out about 200hp in 1st & 2nd. The trannys are designed for efficency too, sport isn't a factor.

274hp or w/e is really just a marketing ploy. The buyers won't know the difference, they just see the number & my 328i's tail lights.

Because we are way under-rated. Probably have more like 330hp at the crank. Also, power delivery comes into play. We have full torque by 1400rpm

So far I've only been challenged by a Ford Cobra (which smoked me) and a 350z which I didn't bother....

That could be a reasonable, but unfortunate, explanation, but I guess you can only do so much with FWD.

The Optima turbo doesn't seem to be particularly high geared, it tops out at 34, 60, 92, and 122 mph in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears respectively.

Unfortunately I don't think my little N52 can keep up with one. 2 years can't come soon enough!

The Kia Optima is actually a really nice car. Not for me, but still did a good job with the design.

Yes I did lol. For some reason I don't respect any sport car with less than 2 liters of displacement. I'm sure this statement will spark some debate .

Because they have a turbo, and when people see turbo, they think that means fast. Sorry Mr. Optima, but you lose to a 328, and 335 hands down.

Had some kid in a Mustang try to race me last night. I accelerated to get around a slow driver in front of me and then in my rearview mirror see these lights coming and I thought well its either a cop or someone thinks I wanna race. Pull up to a light look to my left and its a mustang. Light turns green, he guns it and when I see the back of his car I realize its a damn 6 cylinder. I almost raced him at that point....lol He had aftermarket wheels and a body kit and from the side it looked like a Cobra. lol
