I did this on my E90. Then just today completed a 3D Di Noc Carbon Fibor wrap and it looks 10000 times better. The entire trim inside the car is now carbon fiber. It cost me $17 in materials, and three hours of labor.

What is the texture of the paint? It looks OEM in the pic, but does it have that rubbery feel like OEM?

I really like the chrome sides on this steering wheel.
Does anyone know if I'd need to buy the whole cover or can I just get the chrome pieces?
Any part numbers?

Thanks

You could probably plasti dip it instead of paint if you wanted a more rubbery finish.

Umm no.. I recommend the the Camouflage paint if you want an OEM feel. With plasti dip, you can accidentally scratch it and leave marks. But.. go ahead, plasti dip the trim if you like.

I used the camo paint, which no longer says black on the can but did say it in small letters on the sticker with upc code. Look and feel was VERY close to OEM. Good find by OP! Can't comment on durability yet... So far so good.

FYI- I found another DIY for carbon fiber wrapping video for this exact piece and posted on another thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=516463

If you have a portable steamer( the kind you would use for your suits)... that can work to get the soft rubber paint off the trim...

How do you do the painting part? How many coats? Does it need primer etc. I'm pretty much new to painting.

Here's little DIY I made for removing the rubber coating off.

Forget sanding, do this and it comes off completely 100% from every small crevice.

There's another thread where the guy dips his. Unfortunately, it didn't last long... which sucks because that's the route I thought I was going to take. This seems like it could be promising though
