the best sunglasses imo are:
cheapish: Rayban
Mid-High: Persol

+1. I've had Ray-Ban and currently wear Persols (made much better than RB). Thinking about picking up a pair of Oliver Peoples too if they fit my face.

I like something more sophisticated or classy looking for every day. And a pair of shooting glasses are free for us.

Not to say also that a different law enforcement agencies will be different also.
Real world experience tends to differ quite a bit. I lived in a big military town and also know some of the local SWAT guys here in Austin.

The most common glasses I see worn are the military issue m-frames like these:

A bit off topic, but a friend of mine swears by those glasses. Dude is a professional badass: SWAT team, runs sub 3hour marathons, and he's 58 years old. If they're good enough for him, they're more than good enough for me.
Yeah M frames for everyday use is not ideal... Unless you want to look like you're dressed up for Halloween. But I wear half jackets for working out and daily shooting. Ray Ban wayfarers all other times

Agreed. I just got a new pair of Stringers, love them. Had Fathoms before that. Wifey has several pair as well. Great glasses.

Serengeti sunglasses are difficult to find. There's no retail store around here that sells them. Everything else is readily available.

Revo, I have tried everything, I always end up leaving my new glasses in their case and wearing my old revos. So, now I just keep buying revos.

Until recently they had glass lenses which were very scratch and damage resistant, I believe Oakley bought the company and my lenses went away. I have two pair of the "new" ones, the new lenses definitely show wear faster

I had a pair of Revo before but returned it and kept the Ray Bans instead. I don't match with the sporty brands like Oakley, Revo, etc. Ray Ban is probably my favorite. I just wish their lenses were as good as Maui Jim. I heard Maui Jim's customer service is excellent so I'm going with them this time around.

Oakley bought Oliver Peoples back in 2006. Oakley was bought buy the Luxottica Group in 2007. They also own Revo, RayBan among many others.

Thanks for the info, I (obviously) did not research it on my own, I was just remembering what I was told by someone behind the counter.

Got a Rayban aviator & wayfarer.

Used to wear an Oakley Fivesquared Ducati edition but lost it 3 times. I bought same one again & again but it never stood over 1year.

I could understand losing them once, but you probably shouldn't have nice stuff if you can't hold onto it. Sorry, but that's the truth. I guess it just upsets me that people throw money around frivolously.

I bought these glasses when I was 13 years old and still have them, the box, and the receipt. If a 13 year old kid can do that, you should be able to also.

I tried Oakley but their metal frames always broke within 2 months. I do have a pair of Flak Jackets that haven't broken yet but the left lens is loose. I prefer Ray Ban.
