The 1st one is from last year's superbowl. Here are a couple more that aired this year.

Hyundai is nothing if not ambitious - so was Toyota iirc. Nothing wrong with that. The problem is that their products have always lacked soul, much like Lexus' still do. If Hyundai can keep improving their cars, they will eventually have something competitive. They're just not there yet. Still too much of the dorky kid trying to play with the jocks vibe going on.

2009 M3  [8.40]
I've got a Hyundai Azera Limited and a Hyundai Santa Fe Limited parked next to my 2009 E92 M3. They're all great cars. The M3 is my daily driver and the Santa Fe is my wife's. The Azera carries clients occasionally. So far, no Hyundai will stick with the M3, but...

Did anyone see the Speed Channel special about making commercials about the Genesis Coupe? It looks like a Nissan-style car with the V-8 from the Genesis sedan. Reis Millan was burning up the track for the commercial shoot. I thought it would air for the Super Bowl, but apparently they decided to save that powder for later. (The HYUNDAI shouting commercial was classic and served the whole brand).

BTW, J.D. Power called my wife tonight to see what she thought about a recent routine service visit. She raved on. The Azera is an '06 and the Santa Fe is an '07 and all we've done is change the oil. I'd recommend a Hyundai to any secure friend that I knew was not too hung up on marque. Hyundai's sales were up in January by 14% with Toyota, Ford, GM and Chrysler down from 35% to 65%. (Didn't see BMW numbers, but they were down in 2008).

I remember when BMW was an economy car. I bought a VW Beetle in 1967 because I couldn't afford the extra $15 per month for the BMW 1600 sedan. Oh well...$65,000 later I've got a BMW that I love.

Let's not all be hatin' "Bimmer Boys" and realize that there are lots of other great cars in the world.

Who the hell talks like that guy?

I would love to ask that guy a question...anything...just to hear him speak...I'd probably laugh. I can't match that kind of voice with a face in my head.

Wow...nice bitter tirade... based on false info. the phonetic spelling of "hyundai" in korean is "hyuhn deh," which actually has a meaning: "modernity." I should also mention that the Hyundai group has been around longer than Honda.

Many americans still pronounced it "hyoon dye."

I had a sonata as a rental last week, seriously impressed by this car, if I was in the market for a 4 door small family car, I think it would be my choice

Post #46... great commercials... Still, i think the front end of the coupe needs some work... maybe new grills and a better lower portion -- nothing a body kit won't cure.

lol hyundai genesis, i was actually kind of interested in it until i sat in it at our local car show... 46K for crap lol...was the V8 model, but the interior and everything just didnt feel luxurious. Perhaps it was because i was just out of a 750i which still felt like there was more room in it than the genesis btw.

I'm not convinced yet, but then again I haven't taken my test drive in the Genesis yet. I'll probably drive one when my 335i lease comes closer to term.

But to all the rental car ravers, let me remind you, MOST rental cars drive like a dream because, unless you're using the ultra-low budget rental companies, most of the cars are practically BRAND NEW and are constantly being serviced. I've driven hundreds of different rental cars, including Hyundais, and very few stand out from the pack, and Hyundai is not one of them. Maybe the Genesis could be different.

Incidentally, most of the rental cars that have stood out from the pack of hundreds, were rented on European trips, and were European cars (not just BMWs)...

Two things, you don't pay $46,000 for a Genisis, more like $40,000. You have to carefully pick the color combinations because some look pretty sad; however, many, like the taupe leather with the dark wood is very nice looking. Comparable equipment on a 750i is going to be $30,000 more delivered.

Any BMW will out handle any Hyundai, but the Hyundai is competent. I think it's about what compromises you're willing to accept, if any.

I drove this car as part of a focus group. Pretty damn impressive inside/outside and on the road.

Make fun of it at your own risk.

They are trying to break the stereotypes, which is good. They are the only company that's coming out with new exciting models in the current economy.

i've always thought "Hun - Day" was some stupid American pronunciation and it's suppose to pronounce "He - O - N - DIE" but I guess the video proved my conception to be wrong.

another case would be "Han-da" (American) instead of "Ho-n-Da" (Japanese)

I know the 7 series isn't an absolute thing of beauty in many people's eyes, but, come on, it's not as ugly as the Aztek. It got the designer fired, but...

I think he's referring to the Genesis. But don't worry...anything from any car manufacturer but bmw is ugly in his eyes.

Hyundai is trying very hard to enter premium segment.
Although it only has chances to do that in markets like US & eg. South Korea who are more open to alternative & cheaper premium brands. Traditional markets like Europe, China, Japan etc are not interested so much in "new premium" - that's why eg. Lexus isn't doing very well in these markets.

Hyundai is trying to do what Lexus did in 80s & 90s - offering a premium product for less money. More luxury for less money. And actually it may actually work in these recession times.

Although the problem is they are aiming too high. Taking directly on Lexus & BMW? C'mon. Yet IMO they had good chances to outdone brands like Audi, Infiniti, Cadillac, Acura first.

Btw, after Genesis they are about to offer the flagship - Equus.

In S. Korea, Hyundai has been very successful marketing the "premium segment" of their automobile line. That's why their higher end cars, such as the Genesis + Equus (which has been out for quite some time now -- not the concept sketch in the link above) carry different logos. I do agree that Hyundai has a few hurdles to jump over before they can eventually enter other traditional markets, such as Europe, China, and Japan, but I don't agree with you completely about Lexus not being successful in those regions. When I visited Hong Kong and S. Korea, I have seen quite a few Lexus cars on the road. It's weird though, I never knew Toyota (which is quintessentially Lexus) had an SUV that looked EXACTLY like the Lexus RX -- which was affluent all throughout HK.

Also, i must disagree w/ S Korea being more open to alternative & cheaper premium brands... yes Hyundai is considered amongst the lower automobile tiers in the US, but in S. Korea, a Sonata goes anywhere from $35-50k. I also haven't seen any hondas, mitusbishis, nor any american cars during my visit last summer.

In all, I wouldn't be surprised if Hyundai introduced a luxury line, like that of Acura, Cadillac, Lexus, Infiniti in the US in the next decade.

The Scope died out in 4yrs and i didn't know they had 2 gens of the Tiburon and lasted 12 yrs. I hardly see any around…must be rare. I don't see this car being in production long due to the high price and lots of competition for around the same money. What would the resale value be after 5 yrs?
