steering wheel roundel defect.
Anyone else notice if their steering wheel roundel has something like hard water stains or imperfections on the inside? You have to look at it in sunlight to see it clearly.

O.k , so its confirmed. I wanted to install the led(performance) steering wheel, but didn't want the dealer to deny warranty because I had installed it myself. I know its a factory part and all that good stuff. This should be covered under warranty, but you have to remove the whole airbag and replace it. I don't think you can pop out the roundel. Make sure everybody asks to have it replaced at their next service and fight it through if denied.

My car was out of alignment and the steering wheel needed centered. After I took it in I noticed the dealership scratched the roundel and caused the steering wheel to peel on top. I dont think you can just pop that roundel off the wheel, and wouldnt try it.
The service statement says that the airbag unit was replaced, so maybe they do have to replace the whole unit. I had just assumed they replaced the plastic and roundel. |

Mine is cracking too. Seems to be a manufacturer defect. Though one I can live with, yet it looks like crap to those of us who are overly anal about such things (present company included.)

My first SA (he's kind of a douche) gave me the same whole line, I didn't really believe him though. I've since switched SA. Let me check what my current SA says.
