Since this is just theoretical...
I'm not sure if the DME can be programed for a different VIN using NCS Expert, Toolset32, etc.. but every other computer in the car can be programed to work with the new DME. You won't have the correct vin once you plugged into it, but i think it would work |

buy a 5.3 liter out of a chevy truck. its an LM7 motor i believe. you can get them for 500-700 bux, complete oil pan to intake.
thats the cheapest LSx you can get. toss in a cam and its 400hp. 330 or so rwhp |

I also thought of the ls3 swap but reading back and forth I run into some dead ended questions. Would that mean the cluster would no longer serve it's purpose (Speedo, tach, computer menus etc.)? While you can rewire your harness to make the car run, will you really want to sacrifice the luxury part of your car for a track use car? I thought it over a lot and I personally would but you may also want to think about the many other things to lose such as the simple luxury of seeing how much oil you have from the cabin of your car or the service updates.. sounds like an amazing idea if you don't mind losing some to gain some and if you're really onto and anal about checking fluids and everything without reminders

+1, also I believe the block is stronger to withstand more power and boost too since HPF made 1000+ hp with the s54 multiple times? Just check with the laws because I know down in california, you need to register the motor to the car and "BAR" it in. One of the rules says that you cannot BAR a motor from and older car into a newer car. I.e. bar an e46 motor into an e9x

I am just wondering because after driving home from work on Friday, my car starting ticking like crazy and had a rough idle. I brought it to my mechanic and he said two of the cylinders had no compression, he said i would need to get the cylinder head rebuilt and one valve for sure would need to be replaced, the tricky thing is with these aluminum bolts the would most likely need to be replaced. he advised me parts and labor would run around 4k and he said it would be cheaper to buy a new motor. my current motor has about 104K miles on it i have you to research more into the matter but anyone input in much appreciated. I would be happy to email the video over of what my car was doing on friday when all these problems started.

I would get a another n51/N52 unless you feel like going a little crazy.. in that case n20 maybe.. I would say S54 but it is illegal to put older engines in newer cars so you might run into troubles there.. your call though
