OEM quality versus aftermarket...
Hey everyone.
I've always been an OEM-type of guy. From exterior mods to performance mods....always OEM. Just me. In terms of wheels, I've owned OEM 225M, 269 Performance wheels, and 193M wheels. But recently, no OEM 19" wheels have gotten me excited. Recently I saw the soon-to-be released Linea Corse 888. I guess you can call them a poor man's HRE SC43s. I would love to get the HREs, but too $$$ for me. I would love to pick up the LC 888s in satin black when they arrive, but not sure of their quality versus OEM wheels. So, how do OEM wheels compare in quality to aftermarket wheels like LC, VMR, and similar wheels under $2 grand. Thanks.

i'm no wheel guru, but others have explained to me that it comes down to how they're made...Low-pressure cast, forged, etc. Some OEM wheels are made by BBS (like the forged 19" style 313s I'll be putting on my car in the spring) and others are not. I not onloy like the look of those wheels but like that they are made by a quality mfr using the process that ensures light weight but high strength as well for roads here in the northeast. VMRs are quite popular on this platform and seem to be a good compromise between quality and price. 269s are awesome, btw.

Specifically, just want to make sure the LCs are manufactured well since I'm really interested in the LC 888s....

Well they do show a lot of hardware but since I don't need a bbk for a dd I'd feel like a poseur putting one on (even if I had $7k lying around!). I'm thinking of just painting my hubs silver to clean them up and getting the stock calipers painted/powdercoated...maybe black or the same blue as the new ///M sport brakes. I don't want to rice it up, but I think it will be just enough to look good without entering civic territory and drawing too much attn.
